“TriStar Open” SC2 Tournament Rules
A. General Information:
- The TriStar Entertainment Open is for all Starcraft II players, ranging in varying levels of skill and experience, to compete in an organized, friendly, and competitive environment.
- We feel that the tournament will provide a learning and social environment to those heavily involved in competition play as well as those beginning their ascent into competitive play.
- A registration fee of $20 dollars will be required for entrance into the tournament.
- There is a minimum of a $75 dollar cash prize for the winner of the tournament as well as a custom trophy up for grabs, cash prize may increase depending on number of entries in tournament.
- Registration fee will cover the cost of computer rentals, tournament ground fees, and prize funding.
- By registering for this tournament, you agree to comply with all the rules and regulations set by the tournament guidelines listed below.
B. Eligibility:
- Everyone is welcome to participate in the TriStar Entertainment Open tournament as long as these following conditions are met.
- Participants must be completely registered for the tournament and verification by an official is recorded for tournament records by the deadline.
- Participants must own a Battle.net account with access to Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
- Participants must be signed in on tournament date at the required time and location listed by tournament officials.
- Tournament eligibility will be granted to those who follow all procedures; however participant’s eligibility can be revoked due to violation of the rules and regulations or other acts deemed unsuitable, irresponsible, and disrespectful by tournament officials.
C. Registration:
- Participants are required and responsible to sign up for the tournament in person at Cyber Zone or online by contacting us through email, completing all required registration forms needed for entry into the tournament.
- All participants must register the following e-mail addresses as friends to their battle.net accounts, following email addresses are the tournament officials accounts:

- An official completed list of all registered players will be provided to TriStar Entertainment and recorded for future tournament use and news. Information recorded will remain confidential and private from the public.
- Registration for future tournaments will be announced ahead of time and posted at “blank” for future reference.
- Registration fees and paper work is due at the deadlines set for each tournament and no refunds will be permitted under any circumstance once registration is complete and finalized by officials.
- Participants will receive notification of completed registration through email once all papers and fees have been completed, unless participant registers on the day of the tourney.
D. Pre-Tournament:
- Participants of the tournament are required to check in on tournament dates AT LEAST thirty minutes before the listed start time for the tournament. Those who are not checked in by the required times will not be allowed to participate and be revoked of their eligibility.
- Check-in will take place on tournament location grounds, i.e. where tournament is being held.
- Upon completion of the check-in time period, the tournament brackets will then be organized and later posted on tournament grounds for participants to review and ask any questions or express any concerns they may have about the listing. Tournament brackets will be organized randomly in a suitable matter.
- Each player will then be matched up with his or her opponent by a tournament official and will be further instructed on required tasks.
E. Match-Up:
- The tournament will be organized into multiple solo matches.
- For all rounds, matches will be organized and set-up by tournament officials to ensure each game meets tournament qualifications and guidelines.
- The matches will be played on pre-assigned maps and settings. Playing on any other maps or settings not authorized by tournament officials will result in nullification of the match. This will be confirmed through match replays and live referring of matches.
- The following settings must be in place for each match in the tournament:

Mode: 1v1
Speed: Faster
F. Tournament Structure:
- Each round proceeding (before) the semifinals will be played as a “best of three” or first to two wins.
- The semifinals (round of 4) and finals (round of 2) will be played as a “best of five” or first to three wins.
- The finals (last 2 participants) will also be played as a “best of five” or first to three wins.
- For each match after the first match, the loser will be instructed by tournament official to pick the next map. Remember, the map for the first match of every round has already been selected by tournament official.
G. Maps:
- The following are possible maps to be used in the tournament:
- Metalopolis
- Lost Temple
- Kulas Ravine
- Blistering Sands
- Steppes of War
- Desert Oasis
- Scrap Station
- Xel naga caverns
H. Tournament Etiquette:
- Participants must respect players and officials before, during, and after matches.
- Profanity of any sort is NOT allowed.
- Racism, mockery, and taunting will NOT be tolerated.
- Failure to comply with the above rules may result in disqualification from current tournaments and/or barring from future tournaments.
I. Post-Match:
- It is winner’s responsibility to report the results of each match to tournament officials so recordings and scoring can be made.
- Replays must be saved for officials in case any match reviews must be evaluated and looked over.
- By participating in the TriStar Games Open players consent to the distribution of match replays to TriStar Entertainment and its affiliates
J. Officiating:
- TriStar Entertainment administrators/officials have complete authority over tournament events. All participants must obey them or face disqualification.
- All issues are to be dealt with by TriStar Entertainment staff. If you have any problems, please seek help by contacting TriStar Entertainment officials through email or telephone.
- Officials reserve the right to view all matches. If an official requests a role as spectator, the player-host must comply.
K. Cheating and Player History:
- Cheating of any sort (e.g. screen surfing, scouting) is prohibited and will be punished by disqualification from current and future tournaments. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- TriStar Entertainment officials reserve the right to deny entry to any players with a history of cheating and/or inappropriate behavior.
L. Technical Difficulties:
- Should a disconnection occur within the first 8 minutes of a match, an official will decide if a restart is in order. The decision will be based on whether a significant match-changing event had taken place. Immediately report any disconnections to tournament officials.
- If the match-changing event was in favor of the disconnected player, a restart will be given.
- If not, the match will be counted as a loss for the disconnected player.
- If a disconnection occurs AFTER 8 minutes into the game, the match will go into official review and the outcome will be determined by an official of the tournament.
- Should a restart be given, players must replicate All elements of the original match (e.g. race, map)
M. Prize Money (What Everyone Waits For!)
- The winner of the TriStar Open will receive $75 dollar cash prize (increased with attendance), the tournament champion trophy, along with custom SC2 dog tag.
- The money will be transferred to the winner by a tournament official in a suitable and secure manner.
- Additionally, the winner will receive recognition by TriStar Entertainment and will receive one free registration into a future tournament held by TriStar Entertainment.

Cyber Zone Tournament Promotions:
Before, after, and once eliminated from the tournament Cyber Zone will have a special offer of $1/Hr for all participants in the tournament. Feel free to show up early to get some practice or stay after the tournament for additional StarCraft fun!!
There is a no outside food or drink policy. Refreshments can be purchased at Cyber Zone for very reasonable price.
For those of you who do not own StarCraft 2 we have been informed that the owner of Cyber Zone will be selling copies for $49 flat, so be sure to pick up a copy if you don’t own one.
