Having heard about Zerg rush (kekeke) I decided to go with that race, and started the placement matches. Initial thought: "Dude, WTF". Without any manual at all, I didn't really understand too much of what was going on to begin with, but that in itself was kinda intriguing. Some googling later, and I was on my way to some ownage. Or rather, rage. It seemed like whatever I tried, the opponent could always pull som imba trick that was impossible to defend against.
It was actually HDStarcraft that got me on the right track, with his Zerg tutorial.
Getting that first ladder victory was just so immensely gratifying, that I knew that this game would have me hooked for a very long time indeed. With blood on my teeth, I just keeped practising, and started finally winning, and ended phase 1 on kind of a winning streak.
With where I am at in my life right now with full time job, bought a house that I am renovating together with my girlfriend, gaming hours is a sparse commodity.
It is really great that Starcraft 2 finds me opponents that are at the same sucky skill level as myself, so that I can keep winning games even if I still am struggling along in middle of silver divison. It is also great that a match rarely lasts longer than 30 minutes, this makes it really easy to start a gaming session, knowing that I won't have a problem with shutting down the computer in a short while if the need arises. Some difference from a Battlefield clanwar where you basically needed about three hours with planning, organizing and playing.
I know one thing: Starcraft 2 is going to keep me entertained for a loooooong while! :D
