Im looking for a good anti-virus for PC. Im running on windows XP, i dont know if any more details are necessary. I've tried a lot of anti virus software but most seem to be budleware or straight up malware.

The other thing is that im looking to buy something like an iPod. On a blog post somewhere people mentioned that there were some substitutes to Apple's iPod, though they were never mentioned.

I have an old, circa '06, iPod, but the battery is running low and the headphone jack is not working. I could fix it but i think that i will just keep fixing it so much that it will cost me the cost of a new one.

Is there any alternative to the iPod that is of the same quality/functionality or better?

Microsoft Security Essentials. Microsoft Made, R1CH approved.

And Torenhire approved. If that means anything. Free, and updates with your regular windows updates. It's A+

MSE or NOD32 for the antivirus.

Honestly, I'm not sure there is another media player that comes even close to the ipods in terms of quality and usefulness (especially ipod touches)

If you have downloaded antiviruses that were malware then you probably want to do some hardcore cleaning of your computer or reformat. Im not gonna go into detail about cleaning your comp but im sure someone else will if you ask.

I think you're right here regarding MP3 stuffs.

Also, I remember going to get NOD32 but doesn't it require a paid subscription? Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

MSE or NOD32, the latter has a slightly better detection rate but the former is free.

So I download MSE right and i notice a little red shield with an x on top which tells me that my computer is at risk; i have no antivirus running right now, no firewall.

I click on it to change the security settings, all is good until now, well then this shows up:

just what the HELL is this?

it prohibits me from entering the security settings.

good people of teamliquid, help me vanquish this problem.

Edit: it reads:" An exception has ocurred while trying to execute: "Shell...wscui.cpl" "

Why does "genuine windows" tell me I might have a fake copy of windows?
