There's too many shows on TV that are kind of politically correct, too many focused on that traditional romantic drama or the constant twists and turns of a labyrinthine plot.
Boston Legal is just weird, and maybe that's why I love it so much - not only because I'm a little strange myself, but it's so enjoyable to see something celebrate its bizarreness so spectacularly.
Even the scripted heart-to-hearts at the end are thoroughly refreshing.
Oh, and William Shatner is actually purple in real life. True story, apparently it's blood pressure or something.

Boston Legal is awesome! i got the first 4 seasons at my house and all the chapters are worth watching

It's good when its not too preachy, which happened less and less in the last seasons.

it's ok. i feel like it's often weird and quirky for the sake of being weird and quirky, because "that's what audiences like" or something. kind of like better off ted, but not as god-awful

I really liked Better off Ted then they axed it

Boston Legal has unlikable characters, terrible acting, poor camerawork and a terrible script. The entire series looks like some half-assed college project that barely got passing grades. There's people out there who honestly likes it? o.o
Seriously? o.o

I like the characters, I find Spader's overacting and Shatner's hammy ways suit their roles perfectly.
I'm not a fan of breaking the fourth wall, though. Especially not as much as they do it.

Seriously? o.o Well, that's not true at all, but you're entitled to your opinions. Even if they're incredibly wrong.

Boston legal is really awesome! It's a welcome relief from all those "reality" shows and soaps on TV.

i loved the show, season 2 and 3 were the best, in season 4 and 5 the trails were getting a bit to unrealistic. the relationship between alan and danny is unique on tv.

Absolutely terrible. I hate Boston Legal - it's predecessor, The Practice, was way better. Anyone who followed The Practice just simply cannot go on to watch Boston Legal as it is just so crap in comparison. If you liked Boston Legal you would probably like the predecessor to The Practice, which was Ally McBeal.
If you haven't seen The Practice before then I would definitely recommend it, and if you liked Denny Crane and Alan Shore then even their performances in The Practice were way better (in the later episodes of Season 8):

Their performances were the same. They didn't have the little homo love they have in Boston Legal, but because of how they played those parts is the reason they got that some what of a spin off show. Boston Legal isn't as serious and dark as the Practice you can't really compare the two except that they are both lawyer shows.

I loved Boston Legal, The Practice, Ally McBeal and Boston Public - David E. Kelley can be a really interesting writer sometimes, and I agreed with tons of his "soapbox" points. I agree with some that the shaky camera threw me off at first, but after taking a film course, I kind of realized how shaky handheld cameras could be an interesting stylistic choice, and it grew on me as I watched more and more. James Spader and William Shatner are both great actors.

i love the moaning and groaning between segments

I disagree. The Alan Shore in Boston Legal was just there to sell sexual innuendo 100% of the time (smut gets ratings), whereas in The Practice his controversial personality covered a wider range of (im)moral characteristics and he didn't have to make everything into an immature sex joke. It just got old very quickly and that's why I never bothered watching Boston Legal beyond the first season (which I struggled through anyway).

I don't think you've seen enough episodes. Obviously in Boston legal he was a main character so he got more air time and a more developed character and I don't even recall that many sex jokes.
|
he was brazen with the sex jokes, but i wouldnt say that is far from his character.
