Over the last year or so I've been playing emulated SNES and PS1 games on my PC for fun, but also for speed running. For example, I've beaten Super Mario World in 11:19 which is 20 seconds shy of the current best time on SDA.
Anyway, I remember playing a simple old 2D fighting game maybe around 10 years ago which I think was on the SNES (could of been on the PS1, but I doubt it). I can't find out what it was for the life of me and I can't remember much from it, but I can remember a few parts of certain levels.
I believe that near the start of the game you have to fight your way through a train and the first boss was some giant guy in a boxing ring. Shortly after you had the chance to smash up a car with a crowbar, which I remember as being awesome-ly fun! The only other thing I can remember is one of the bosses later in the game who I think was a cop in the 'downtown' area of the game.
I never did manage to beat the game before I had to return it. I've tried searching for it several times, only to find a magnitude of other 2D fighting games, none of which are the one I want. So if anyone knows what it was called, I'd love to know what it was so I can play it again and re-live my childhood experience.
Did you mean fighter as in SF or MK? or did you mean beat em ups? Cause what you described could also possibly be like Ninja Gaiden 2 or maybe one of the Final Fight games. Pretty sure you fight Katana and Andore in a boxing ring early on in the game.
Had a look on YT for gameplay of Bad Dudes, and I'm almost certain it isn't it.
Yeah sorry, I meant beat-em up games, and after looking at Final Fight games it looks like that's probably it. It had the boxing ring boss and the cop boss in the video.
Thanks CM for the quick and correct response! Much appreciated.
Definitely Final Fight. Used to play the arcade version at summer camp in the early 90s... then got to play it for Gameboy Advanced ~5 years ago.... sick!
Wow I remember that game. I specifically remember the crowbar and destroying the car part. And how the car came apart as you did more damage to it. Ah memories ^^
