Korean Air Starleague Prelims: Choose the games you want to watch!
For the first time in esports history, Ongamenet is introducing the 'Multi Live System.' The system is being used for the first time this coming Friday (the 5th in Korea), for the beginning of the highly anticipated Korean Air Starleague 2010. The system allows for fans to be able to watch different games online, in addition to the games being broadcasted for the TV.
The Korean Air Starleague 2010 preliminaries begin this coming Friday, starting at 10 AM at the the Yongsang eSports Support Arena, and will be covered on the game channel Ongamenet from 2 PM to 3.
During past preliminaries, the broadcasters could only choose one game to air on TV while countless games were being played simultaneously. However, with the new 'Multi Live System,' eSports fans can, in addition to watching the game being broadcasted and commentated on air on TV, choose and watch other games occuring at the same time. Thanks to this, fans can now watch more games than ever before. This online broadcast will begin 12 PM on www.ongamenet.com , and will be accessible by pressing the 'Live TV' button.
BoxeR, NaDa, sAviOr, July, Reach, and YellOw are among the players that have entered these preliminaries from the 12 progamer teams, and the preliminaries are expected to be the place for many grueling battles. Players currently doing well in the Proleague including Bisu (SK Telecom), Best (SK Telecom), JangBi (Samsung), Kal (STX), Violet (KT), Really (eSTRO), Leta (hite), RuBy (Airforce), Sea (MBC), sKyHigh (CJ), and more are expected to participate as well.
How the 'old gamers' will fare is of great interest. Past Starleague winners BoxeR (SKT), NaDa (Wemade), sAviOr (CJ), July (STX), and Reach (Airforce), as well as players who have been unable to qualify for the Starleague in a long time such as YellOw (Airforce), Iris (CJ), Casy (Airforce), Anytime (Airforce), XellOs (Airforce), and ClouD (Airforce), as well as the only female active progamer ToSsGirL (STX) are all potentials for qualifying for the Starleague, and are gathering attention.
In particular, last season (ed note: last preliminaries?) BoxeR made it to the ro4 and YellOw made it to the finals, further raising the hopes that they may qualify for the main event. Also Bisu, who had been part of the main event for 8 consecutive Starleagues since the 2007 Starleague until being eliminated for the First time recently, is another player receiving attention.
New players are garnering anticipation, as well. Last season's runner up, Movie, was a player who began in the preliminaries and made it all the way to the finals. This season, more new and energetic players such as Violet are expected to make a strong showing in the preliminaries.
The preliminaries consist of 169 players split up into 24 groups. Games are bo3s, and the winner of each group is seeded into the ro36. Maps include Match Point, Eye of the Storm, and Fighting Spirit, which are all considered balanced maps.
