I have an assignment for a Comp Sci class. My eccentric professor has set the students against each other (and himself) with the following goal: we must have a website that is top-ranked on Google for any of the terms rankophilia, rankophiliac, rankphilia, or rankphiliac.
My entry is http://rankophilia.site11.com, which may be unavailable for a couple of hours due to 000webhost site maintenance.
You don't have to click the link, you don't have to add the site as a search result for a Google search of any of the aforementioned terms, and you don't have to vote up the result should you see it. For that matter, you don't even have to read this blog entry.
What I would like, though, are suggestions and reactions. Is this a good assignment for a university class? Do you have any tips on how to boost page rank?
The class itself is entitled "Technical/Social Analysis of Information", for what that's worth.

sounds weird to me..

Open a wordpress.com site. Google likes to put wordpress.com sites up at the top. Google doesn't like 000webhost free domain sites at all.
You need to periodically update your page. Preferably every time you update it the post has to do with rankophilia.

Well, as for now, you have already won. Google gives me this blog as first result for any of these strange terms (and the same happens to other users as I see).
Good Job!

lol, this blog post is the only result returned from google for the last three of your terms. once again, teamliquid wins

LOL this is for a comp sci class? like.. literally computer science? wtf. SEO is more marketing/advertising then related to comp sci at all..
regardless, get a wordpress.com blog (as mentioned above) make a few posts on the first day, explaining the purpose and make sure you use w/e keyword you want like 3-4 times per blog post.
Then, make like 10+ other blogs at various places (blogspot, blogger, wordpress, etc etc) all related to the keyword you wanna rank for, make a few posts, include links to your original blog with anchor text of whatever keyword you wanna rank for.
Then, submit all of them to digg/reddit/all of those sites. Find a couple link directories, spam the links all over them. Make a video about nothing, link to it.
#1 rule of SEO = link building. those keywords shouldnt be hard at all to rank for, just have good keyword density and 20 or so links with the anchor text you want and you should be on the top page relatively soon. Oh yeah, link to it from teamliquid, and any other well-known forums you belong to. Old sites are better as they have higher pr/tr. If your classmates are ranking for the same keyword as you, spam their blogs with your link too. It will lower their rank and raise yours simultaneously.

By posting this blog you probably just destroyed anyones chance .

Once again, it has been proven that Teamliquid owns the internet.

Wouldn't this blog post guarantee that he loses? TL will be at the top, not his site. :x

Can't we just autoforward this to his site? Or better yet autoforward it to his personal diary confessing his love for his professor?

put embedded <HTML> tags within your code frame and google bomb
search up "miserable failure" in google, my friend google bombed the shit outa that texan.

Wow, TL wins again.. all you have to do is blog about a random term and boom your blog ends up at the top.

think google might be smart enough to detect that your site is just a bunch of spam and disregard it

one tip i can give is have other sites link to your page.

LMAO! Repeating words like you did is definitely hurting your cause (spamming). What you should do is write a text explaining these terms or write a short story with them. Be creative! Use the key words in the headlines/html tags <h1> etc. Ideally, put some additional pages up and link to them. Having sublinks is always helpful and better than just one ordinary page (http://rankophilia.site11.com/rankphila.html, http://rankophilia.site11.com/rankphiliac.html etc.).
So now that you have established a) content and b) multiple pages linking to each other with different contents (internal links), you need pages referring to you so that Google knows you rock and pays attention to your site. Posting this on TL is automatically making your site more visible because TL rules.
Do you have any friends with blogs or stuff like that, ask them to link to your website. You can post in other forums as well to get exposure. Or simply google seo and sem (search engine marketing) and get information there.
If you have some spare money you can buy keywords so that anyone looking for the aforementioned terms gets you as a sponsored link on top of everybody else (Adwords).

If it's for school you may also want to spell check your page, "followins" -> "following", I'm sure it doesn't matter that much but it's such a simple little thing to fix.
