The Prowler and The Burning are two classics from 1981 with effects made by the legendary Tom Savini.
The Toxic Avenger from 1985, known for being the splatter pioneer, it's pretty funny and not that over the top sick. their budget was pretty much nothing but they still managed to create somewhat convincing effects using stuff like a carved out melon filled with crushed hamburgers.
Critters 1-4, not really scary, kind of reminds you of Gremlins, pretty funny seeing a young Leonardo Di Caprio in the third one.
The Gate from 1987 with a really young Stephen Dorff, this is one underrated horror movie, it's like nobody knows it exists.
Haute Tension (High Tension) from 2003, this is one of the best "modern" horror movies i have seen, the story is amazing and the effects by Gianetto De Rossi are just as amazing, everyone needs to see this movie!
Zombi (or Zombie Flesh Eaters) an italian classic from Lucio "The Godfather of Gore" Fulci, it has one of the most memorable gore scenes ever filmed, you'll know when you see it. Also there is a scene with a Zombie fighting a shark underwater!

I loved that movie - it's by far the best Stephen King adaptation aside from The Shining imho. Thanks again everyone This will keep me going for a while.
