I started visiting Teamliquid after the first Blizzard mystery map invitational. Manifesto did the commentary, where you had to manually sync the audio file with the replay. At the end of the cast he advertised TL, and ever since then I've been a regular visitor. It quickly became my most routinely visited website. I must credit the quality and diversity of the community for its appeal.
I am a very quiet person. I enjoyed reading what others had to say, but was never enticed to share my own ideas. Even with the offered anonymity of the internet, I retained my shyness. I hated talking about myself. My reasoning is as follows: the world is a dangerous place, as I have been taught since childhood. Don't talk to strangers. Don't trust anyone. I was a very obedient, "good" boy. I kept my mouth shut around people I was unfamiliar with.
On this internet forum, people could freely share their thoughts without blowing their cover. People were contributing things in the community. I was gaining knowledge from the collective minds of all the posters. It was a parasitic relationship in which people used their efforts to write and I consumed what they had to offer. In my mind, I was the winner. Some may see this as a perverse extremity of demanding to always receive the winning end of a transaction. But this is just the tip of my unsettled mind.
I eventually realized something. The writers were not sacrificing their time for no good reason. They too had something to gain from spending time and effort in constructing quality posts. The reasons are different for each individual, whether it being having an outlet to share one's thoughts, or as an opportunity to practice writing. My current objective is the latter.
The first time I was tempted to post at TL was at the introduction of the blogs feature. It was a grand opportunity to write and share without a specific restriction in topic or community relevance. I could vent all I wanted with no justification. I created my first account, to which I've since forgotten the name and pass, but never got around to posting.
Then I was greatly inspired by thedeadhaji's recent post http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=84153 which really struck a chord with me. It gave me another renewed incentive to start writing of my own.
And now I have finally reached a time in my life where I am in the mood and have the time to post some thoughts in this community. Indeed it is my first post on the internet of any honest and open expression. I'll plan to stay in the blogs section for the most part.
Hello.
I have purposefully not reread or edited what I have written in an attempt to elicit a rawer, unfiltered train of thought. I hope the actual meanings I wish to express are intact, and hopefully with some practice these entries will appear more polished.

Nice title, I lol'd after I realized what this was actually about.
Welcome to (posting at) TL.

Oh don't worry, the quality of your post is more than good enough for the blog section.

Yeah I thought it was going to be some weird lurker build but clever title name. Anyway welcome to TL, its way more fun to post then just staying back not saying well typing your ideas or beliefs, I do not post that much so I am not exactly the best person to be speaking about posting but I do post when I believe I should or when I disagree, or I want to complement someone about there thread or post(like I am doing now). Any ways nice post and I hope to see more posts by a fellow Canadian if that is where you are from.

Hello!
It's good to see that you decided to post instead of staying burrowed Sharing ideas and expressing your opinions can help you grow through discussion and conflict resolution.
As haji said: network with others and benefit mutually by sharing assets.
I don't know how I would've gotten through the 1st term of university if i hadn't been involved with TL. I got to know Bill_307 who helped me through the advanced calculus course and paved a path for me to pursue a career in pure mathematics. If it weren't for him, I probably would have given up and not met awesome friends in the advanced classes. You could say playing Starcraft and registering on TL has changed my life

I understand the notion, and welcome you wholeheartedly to TL posting.
All thoughts are a contribution to this society ( yes even trolls) and you have now entered a symbiotic relationship with us, but fret not, as evolution has shown us a relationship of mutual benefit is more often than not a more successful one than a parasitic relationship.
I too am adept to the line of thinking that you adhere to, in which you do not reread posts before emitting them. i gained this habit in the 4th grade in the realization that it transmits the message I want more effectively than if i had proof read my writing. I, as you can all tell, give a huge emphasis on originality, i prefer my posts speak my emotions along with my messages as o posed to a robotic informative manner, as such i tend to rant..
i do not have the editing stigma though. And will edit mainly due to blatant misspellings, or to add post scripts. One rule of editing i have is that, when it is done i do nothing to manipulate the idea presented in the original post ( yes even if I realize i made a glaring mistake I.E the discussion about proposition 8 where i thought ( wrongly so) that INcontrol was defending a point of view opposite to mine, and i proceeded to introduce a line of questioning which would have made him contradict himself, had i read his post correctly but alas i didn't.)
/end rant
Edit: changed so to do ( it's in bold (this is also one of the flaws of not proof reading))
