I guess people just really hate change and become attached to the things they are familiar with. Myself? I don't mind it, good or bad I believe change is always a good thing. I can't imagine being in the same place doing the same thing for 40+ years of my life. No matter how good it is.
I really don't understand your blog though as they have some glaring contradictions. You state that they should remake Starcraft II using newer graphics engine, physics and B.Net infrastructure. Essentially it'd be a prettier Starcraft. Then below this passage you state the difference between Counter-strike Source 1.6 and Counter-Strike Source isn't just merely a graphical thing. But it's also missing the nuances, bugs and oddities that had existed in Counter-strike 1.6 (CS:S is merely just CS with a newer engine).
You see, by examining this you could assume that doing the same thing to Starcraft would yield the same results. You get less of a game in turn for a better visage. All the quirks, bugs, and oddities that had existed in SC would likely not be there and the nuances the players had developed would likely not exist either.
So it looks like the only solution to this is to continue to play Starcraft: Broodwar and not ever think about revamping the game because as you have stated with Counterstrike 1.6 and CS: Source. It doesn't work.
I believe this is why Blizzard has stated time and time again that they don't just want to remake the game. They want Part II, for better or for worse. Trying to remake the game will only turn out a worse product than the original. The greatest games ever made are usually the result of luck.
