Depends how long you've been playing too, I'm sure at 1 hour a day if you've played the full 10 years you would be damn good.

With one hour a day you will need months to get to D+ level. Even if you have a mentor or friends to play. Mass playing ( like 4-6 hours ) some days will really help you. Start with 3v3 hunt / 2v2 LT and when you get used to units and basic 2v2 bos you can try to 1v1 ( you will have to change a bit your bos ).
Atm i play 0 hours/week because i don't enjoy the game anymore ( always the same stuff and i don't have time to train mechanics ). I'm probably a bad D+ now.
edit: but when i was "active" i tried to play like 10 hours / week ( i mostly played during weekend ), nevertheless i didn't really get better because i was playing way too much UMS. Then i had a period where i really wanted to get better and i started to play like 3hour/day and to really focus on serious games ( 1v1 / 2v2 ) and i was like D+/C- 1v1/2v2 and i improved a lot. Too bad it didn't lasted for a long time. ( like 2 months ? ) My 2v2 mate left and i had no more fun playing because my main problem to get higher ranks was my awful mechanics and i was too lazy to train hk/apm. So i left and sometimes i play few Ums / 2v2 / 3v3 but overall it is < 1 hour /day.

0-1 hour a day does almost nothing, but maybe I'm a slower learner. Plus I'm like 0-1 hour a week on a good week.

I voted 3-5 hours. Although, at this point I don't enjoy just playing the game. I like competing with friends and playing iCCup with friends; but I am bored and no one else is online, Starcraft is usually one of the last things I play.
I love my chat craft I suppose.

Changes alot, like May - august I played less than 1hour BW a day, since september and during the last iccup season I probably played 5ish hours a day on average and will probably play much less once christmas gets closer.
During the wintertime I usually play way more than during summer generally, we have snow 6 months and no sun for like 2months here during the winter so playing computer games comes more naturally in the wintertime.
Theres been times iv played up to 10hours BW a day for weeks and months iv played less than 1hour or even nothing, all depends of the time of the year and if I want to play. So I voted 3-5.
As for the amount of time you need to use at BW its like anything else you wanna be good at it takes time and practice, and if you play less than 1hour a day getting better will take a long time. With 2-3 hours of good practicing a day I think one would improve fast, and by good practice I mean 1v1s vs same or higher skilled players. + If you really want to improve (not just have fun) don`t waste your time on chatting/ums/obsing whatever ect, just go massgame iccup or vs friends\practice partners.

It really varies for me. Some weeks I'll only get a couple hours play time in (spend most of my time playing UMS with friends or watching progamers), but some days I'll get really motivated and play 10+ iccup matches.

it really depends. on days where i mass mass game, it can go up to like 10-15 games, which is a lot to me since i on average play 3-4 a day.
|
3-5 hours daily but its not straight. i play half an hr and do something else for an hour or two then i play for 2hrs straight etc.
|
Varies, I don't play every day... but when I play I usually play a couple of hours. So about 2-3 hours average a day.

I think a better question would be how many games do you play a day? I can be on Starcraft for hours without really getting anything done. Sometimes I think that if I could actually suck it up and play consistently during this time, I would improve quite quickly.

I made it to C playing 1 hour a day.
For ten years.

i used to play 3-5 hours a day with about 2-3 hours intensive practice time. but in the moment i just don't have enough time i maybe play 1 hour in 2 days Im C+^^
