I’m not so sure the republican base would come out for her, they didn’t during the primaries. Nor did they for any other candidate whose rhetoric was less inflammatory towards minorities than Trump. Was there any candidate more inflammatory? JD Vance wouldn't be relevant in that hypothetically because running mates aren't generally chosen by dead people Vance was announced 2 days after the assassination attempt, so admittedly I was slightly off on the timeline as I assumed he was already announced by then. Still, the Trump team likely already knew Trump’s VP choice at that point and would likely push Vance (or Don Jr). I’d suspect there’d be quite an internal battle amongst republicans. I’m not so sure that Haley would win it. Even if she did, I’m also not so sure that republicans would come out to vote for her in large enough numbers to beat Harris, especially after a late contentious internal battle. There’s no reason to assume a majority of republicans would actually support an Indian woman. Yet amazingly she's a twice elected governor of South Carolina defeating scores of white men in the primary process. Imagine that. Scores of white men? 3 other Republican men in the 2010 primary and then the same democrat twice. Wow, scores. Or 4, depending on if we know how to count.
She also got those votes before the Trump takeover of the party which has noticeably turned the party more outwardly racist and sexist. Again, your assertion that she would have somehow been voted in by a bunch of angry white males in the Trump era seems extremely speculative.

I don’t know why people are indulging BlackJack’s bad faith pretending that he has never met a conservative. One of these days he’s going to insist he doesn’t know that water is wet and demand that people prove it to him.

Right... she would never survive in the Trump era... when Republicans have noticeably turned more outwardly racist and sexist.
Or as the Washington Post puts it in this headline from 2020
Republicans have elected a record number of women and minorities.
So your argument is that Nikki Haley could not survive as a woman minority in Republican politics at a time when Republicans are electing more women and minorities than ever? I think it's time to stop digging.

I just wanna know what the republicans plans are to help mitigate climate change, improve access to healthcare so everyone has coverage, improve healthcare outcomes, and reduce cost of healthcare. Lastly to bring the price of everday goods, food, etc back to 2019 levels.
Curious to hear those plans

Wasn't Haley the pick of female Republicans and moderates? While Trump took the overwhelming vote from just about everyone else?
What does it matter what Trump says his plans are. Along with the whole grocery prices are not going down, I'm not ending the war in a day, not all the Jan 6'rs will be getting pardons, just kidding on the whole two trillion dollar cuts thing maybe we could get somewhat close to 1 trillion.
What he says is pointless because as soon as someone with a bigger offer for him personally shows up the plans will change and the mob will move with him.

Why would they have plans for those? They sincerely don't believe those are important.
Edit: Except for bringing down the price of food, I guess, in which case their plans are "tariffs" and "trade wars" and "deport the agricultural labor force", which would all raise the price of food.

In the case of an assassination immediately before the RNC, the nominee would have been selected by the 2,429 delegates that met in 2024. Haley would've been an extremely possible outcome.
In the case of an assassination after the primary winner was clear, but significantly before the convention, it is maybe possible that the committee could consider holding a special turbo redo primary and postpone the convention? The reason is the 2024 convention was significantly in advance of the general election making it feasible in a calendar sense. But that would have to start from canceling the original convention plan, when everybody had everything booked and ready to meet in Milwaukee and choose the nominee, and then having the state parties work out a new vote if possible. The only similar situation I know of is when RFK was killed in the middle of the primaries, and they just continued normally.
People with the ambition to affect change do not start from a position of trying to do less than they think is possible. This is why he's president and we're whining on the internet.

He didn't offer Vance the spot until after getting shot and there's no evidence he had decided before the assassination attempt.

DeSantis was the second choice of Trump voters the whole time even while Trump was trashing him. He's the most likely person Trump delegates would have gone for. Haley was technically second but never could have gathered majority support. just imo

Probably also removing food regulations. Making food cheaper, but also full of lead.
And of course reducing taxes for the superrich. Because trickle down or something like that.

Have to say, the Tik Tok ban threat leading to millions of people in the US discovering how absurdly propagandized they've been about China is a tasty bit of irony.
This might be the most significant cultural exchange between China and the US in our lifetimes so far?

The problem I'm having is that I agree with you, but in order to dissect what makes them the way they do, you need to understand their anatomy. You have done no such thing. It's like you're looking at a sick person and proclaiming: this is a sick person. What you need to do is find out what makes them sick, so that you can heal them, not point out they have a runny nose and are coughing incessantly.
You can find common ground without the need for calling them sexist and racist - which so far has only hurt Democrats and will continue to do so - and then you can calmly pull these people back to center. Meanwhile, Republicans only seem to be going full steam ahead while the Democrats are in an existential crisis, crying out that this is, in fact, the darkest timeline. Or maybe I'm just misreading the situation completely. They grew up in conservative America and were never taught critical thinking in school. Nor did America ever actually resolve the civil war, still seeing the effects of that. Add to that America itself just being fucked from top to bottom so people are stuck in hopeless situations with little to no way of getting themselves out of the hole they are in so they will latch on to anyone promising them unicorns because the people who offered them realistic solutions haven't delivered either, for a wide variety of reasons from opposition rat fuckery, to internal division. That won't stop me from considering them idiots of the highest order for voting for a convicted felon found liable for sexual assault that already spend 4 years fucking them over and literally killing them. I think this is pretty much right, and entirely fair, the only thing I'd ask is do you see these people as irredeemable? In an ideal world with proper outreach and years of time, perhaps. In modern social media bubbles, fake news and outrage. I don't think so. Life long indoctrination is hard to break without the ability to take them out of the environment that indoctrinated them in the first place.
A few might get personally impacted by the shitshow they voted for and regret their choice but I would suspect most of those would also just hitch their wagon to the next populist to come along.
Their personal situation isn't going to improve, they will still be desperate for any form of change.
