Without Zest/Stats/Trap I don't see any protoss beating Serral in a series. Maybe Classic if he brought 5 snipe builds.

But it seems I still underestimated Serral, his play is just too flawless and leaves no hole at all. Look at how herO destroyed Solar and look entirely hopeless against Serral, it's wild how big the skill gap between the top Zerg is. I feel because top Zergs have had a good few years in the matchup that people kind of sleep on how masterful Serral is at it. You really see that more clearly now the matchup is seemingly better balanced overall for this level of play. Serral is still basically invincible, but other top tier players are capable of beating everyone else on the day. I’ve said it before, Serral’s ZvP may be the strongest single matchup we’ve seen in SC2’s history, who else is in that mix if we’re going all-time? Aside from being nigh-invincible at peak, I think I go with Serral’s ZvP because it’s been incredibly solid for so, so long now and through waxing and waning of form, different metas etc. Zest had perhaps a similar peak in PvP at one point, but for a much smaller span comparatively. Maru’s TvT was similarly ridiculous for a period, but he dropped off to merely ‘very bloody good’ with patch changes. Peak Innovation’s TvZ was brutal to behold too, but not over 5/6 years Just a few names I’m throwing into the mix, I imagine there’s plenty more!

The only problem with your argument is the tiny toss pool that exists right now, making even harder for tosses to find a way. As for Maru, the pool of Terrans is way deeper for its TvT.

I think what differentiates this rough epoch is that a top PvZer has a pretty even shot against most Zergs (that aren’t Serral). Even if that often is just herO Versus periods where basically any of the top 4 Zergs were generally just outright favoured against any Toss in the world I think we’re in a world where the balance is better in that matchup, but there’s just not enough top Toss players to actually take advantage of it.

Feels like stifled creep spread and slower tech advancement for Reynor is putting this on a real knife edge
