What's with Proleague funding recently? 4.5M KRW per winner today.
|
kind of a semi-MPL w K-League top tiers joining (those accused of "parking" themselves in K-League)
One of those definitely wasn't parking today
|
|
We're about to have another MPL with funding of 3M+ KRW per winner. Are Koreans getting richer recently?
Also there're a lot of "proleagues" among the lower tiers (mostly girl streamers) these days and even MPL funding kinda looks poor compared to them lmao.
lol I thought they were about to conclude, and yet they're still gathering funding as of now. It's 6M already. Are they about to break the 8M record?

Finally it starts with funding around 6.5M per winner:
|
1-2 years ago (around time JD was in military and Bisu was inactive due to coingate) the generally accepted lowest funding was 300 star balloons per winner and it wasn't that uncommon for players to just put up their own money if they got no funding on a particular night
A player gathering 1000 star balloons per winner was considered huge back then
as a group, gathering even 8000 star balloons per winner was considered a big night (I think even K League had a rule that the 2nd set had to be winners league if they raised a certain amount)
The starcraft university scene brought in a lot of money and donors, some donate to a player just because they belong to a certain university (and don't want them to lag behind in funding compared to players from other universities)
Another factor is the newer rule where the observer slots to see resources are given to the players who bring in the most funding. Maybe more important the new rule that the player who brings in the least funding has to make all the rooms (previously done by the youngest player).
The funding period now takes forever as players desperately beg for donations to either get an obs slot or avoid last place
So now you have situations like the other day where Sharp had something like 3300 balloons per winner but was last place and had to make all the rooms

Some big names slot into KL :
|
Wow some insane games today. The best Brood War is played on these daily proleagues, not ASL or any other tournaments really.
|
Insane MPL matches today sheeeesh Daily PL and spon matches have the most insane games usually. It's why I put my money into them. You get amazing games.
|
omg the current game is mental 30 min of edge of the seat nonstop crazy action and you cant tell who is winning at any point at all has to be contender for game of the year + Show Spoiler +dude has to win ASL this Sunday lol, currently at nearly 80% win rate this month and he put in performances like that
|
+ Show Spoiler +Soulkey definitely lives up to his name as the best defensive zerg player (as oppose to JD whos known to be the best offensive zerg), he was an impenetrable iron wall that Royal cannot break no matter how hard he tried.
Soulkey has been on fire lately, which makes the upcoming ASL even more exciting to watch as both calculated players going head to head.

meanwhile in K-League we are treated to 2 straight YSC v Tyson PvPs
|
Oh KL looks strong today, I didn't realize it first. Rain is a regular proleague player now?:
|
+ Show Spoiler +lmao Shuttle stopped JD's all kill only to have Light Rush Snow and Soma waiting for him, even his teammates couldn't smile after the win, btw atrocious team selection today
By the way another YSC vs Tyson in K League, what the hell? Well at least this time it's a 30 minute game so should be fun.
|
Hmm, it seems like in the absence of Effort, Rain has taken over the role of the organizer of K League. The teams today look so lopsided though. How can a team has 3 Ro8 caliber players while the other has 3 non-ASL players:

Anyone interested in Scan playing the K League?
