I think the terrible part mostly refers to the now regular K-League players YSC and Tyson which is a significant drop-off from Major Proleague Protosses.
But to be fair, Rain is now a K League player, and along with Stork are not weak at all compared to KL Terrans and Zergs. And if we're only talking about skills, then Shuttle should be in KL too. Also Free if he could care a bit more about playing.
In an ideal world, Rain Stork Shuttle Free should be a solid Protoss lineup for KL (maybe even too op), while YSC and Tyson should play in a lower league if it existed,
tbf my comment was knee jerk after today's K League results where protoss were like 1-7
yes Stork Shuttle Rain and Free are not terrible, but Rain never seems to stick around for too long (despite recently playing a lot) and Free's wrists lead him to not participate regularly. Shuttle insists on playing in major proleague on most days (the recent shift to 5:5 proleagues being the norm kind of gives Shuttle an automatic spot in major proleague)
That leaves Stork as the only decent K League Protoss who plays regularly
YSC and Tyson have almost guaranteed spots in K League despite being terrible. But yes they are hilarious in gameplay and in the voicechat so at least they are not boring.
I think about a year ago Snow was telling Effort and Sharp that they needed to set up a new league under K League to banish players who were not playing well in K League (YSC, Tyson, Movie, ggaemo, Miso) until they improved. Snow wanted to call it the "maeil - juh" league (literally "losing every day" league) as a play on words of major proleague. I think they tried it a grand total of one time before just going back to normal.
Also I've never watched Moonlight Proleague but not sure if it even exists anymore

It didn't work because surprisingly GGaemo brings in massive amounts of funding for KPL, plus he's often times the person to organize them. He often peaks out as the biggest funds raiser for a KPL. Yesterday for example GGaemo dwarfed the others. KPL is ultimately about gathering the most funding and making it as entertaining as possible with banter.
There's quite a list of players better than half the K-League but they don't have enough viewers to bring in as much funding as the lesser players. Its also part of why Free often isn't in it. He hardly brings any money in. Players largely get invited over how much money they can bring in from viewers.
For a long time we had Ruin, Barracks, Scan, Ample, Hiya, Speed, Kante, Hm, BTS, nOOB, Motive and Hyuk in Moonlight league because there was a time they simply didn't bring in enough money to be part of K-league. It wasn't until we saw some shifting around of talent and viewerships after Flash went to army, and Larva retired and the University Teams thing started that some players from Moonlight league moved to being K-League frequenters in 2022. Piano more or less being retired from early 2023 also opened a spot. Ruin was in K-League for a long time but he quit for a while and never got back in. Barracks and Hyuk have fully upgraded to K-League. Motive having had his team win a University team tournament got into K-league more frequently over 2022 but that has somewhat died down in 2023. Ample gets in sometimes. BTS and Paralyze somehow bring in some money and get invited from time to time. Most of the Moonlight league has transitioned to using most of their time coaching for University teams and going to offline team events.
We did a couple moonlight proleagues this week after it had been inactive for about half a year. With Barracks and Hyuk in K-league now they've been replaced by Paralyze and BTS.
lmao, talk about K League Protosses, 4 of them are on the same team today: (btw, where the hell are all the MPL players, none are streaming today, very strange, did they have some event together?)

I believe most went to watch the Asian Games sports football and baseball matches today. A lot of them are sports fan. There were also university matches and other showmatches today so no players left for major proleague unfortunately.
With the ASL going on during September, I felt like the Proleague results of this month are kind of irrelevant (because most of the players in this table were knocked out in the Ro24 or Ro16 lol), so I was a bit hesistant to make this table, but here it is.
The most striking point when you look at September is how high the players' earnings are. Somehow funding was going through the roof this month with many days where the prize was in the range of 2-3M krw for each winner. It reached its peak in Sep 16 where the 5:5 Proleague got an all-time record funding of almost 40M krw (or 8M per winner). Just ridiculous.
Back to the players' performances. It's no surprise that Snow is once again at the top of the table with an absurd 70% win rate, 5 MVP performances, and 1 all-kill, which is fortunately for him, the one that earned his team the famous 40M krw. Note that Snow has been keeping that top spot for 4 months in a row.
Bisu wasn't having the best August, but he bounced back this month to second place, just slightly ahead of Light (who is almost always in the top 3 anyway). Yet somehow comments about Bisu being washed up kept popping out here and there.
Royal, Soma, Soulkey and Mini were all having good performances this month, and they occupy the next spots in the table. Makes sense that they are all relatively younger than the rest of the players in this list. Two of them will meet in the ASL finals, while the other two will unfortunately have to go for military service next year. What a pity.
In the bottom half of the table, there are a lot of Zergs. Jaedong's form has fallen off a cliff since Gamers8, and this month is not much different to August, although he did manage to have 2 MVP performances and 1 impressive all kill. Meanwhile Queen and Hero have more often than not been found in the bottom part of this monthly ranking this year. All three of them were born in 1990, maybe same time of decline? And now with Action retiring, Effort semi-active (and he's at the bottom of the table this month, by the way), and Some going to the military next year, it seems like Zerg does have to worry.
Light should have started first in set 2 to save everyone's time. By the way, not a good look for Mini as Soulkey beat him 2-0 today, the first one being a hydra bust nonetheless
