A while ago, a team with Snow, Mini and Light felt too op for the other team. But not today. The Zergs in Team B led by Soulkey absolutely demolished Team A today while Bisu and just played one game each (and lost) and collected the money

Does he pay for training with him? How much does 1h of training cost?

it would be kind of weird for a streamer to pay another streamer actual money for training

when a streamer is trained by another streamer, the implied expectation is that the student's fans will donate star balloons to the teacher to make it worth their time. This is probably necessary because these kind of training streams are considered kind of boring compared to other Starcraft content on Afreeca that doesn't exactly draw viewership.

Obviously teachers prefer students that are pretty popular female streamers as the fan donations are lucrative. This is one of the pillars of the Starcraft university system.

Shinee (despite not being a pretty female streamer) is relatively popular with a solid fanbase, so Light can expect some donations, especially as Shinee went in-person and they are streaming the training on Light's channel. Also the training was done in the early afternoon (not Afreeca primetime), so they can draw viewership in a relatively dead timeslot it's not preventing Light from playing in Proleague at night.

Light is also a special case as he is known as a good teacher of other high-level male players and making the training relatively entertaining. Light gave in-person training to almost all the top Terrans younger than him, most notably Royal (some funny videos of Light spanking Royal during training as punishment), and also Rush, JyJ, Sharp, Barracks, Shinee, Scan.

At his UKKZ university, Light doesn't teach any females, he trains the male university teachers (Leta, Kop, Fleta). Even Hyuk (a Zerg player) went to get in-person training from Light because he was having trouble with ZvT.

if you watched the stream, do you remember the main pointers that light was giving hyuk in ZvT? curious because hyuk is already a veteran pro.

scan talking to artosis about the dynamics of marine-medic vs muta really helped me know what to do as a zerg, so light's advice to hyuk would be really helpful too

wasn't listening that closely live so don't remember any details except that Hyuk was saying he would always lose if he went hive

also vaguely remember Light getting slightly frustrated because Hyuk was being stubborn about some viewpoints

I didn't really pay attention to this before but was the funding for 랜능크 always that high? Yesterday it was 25k balloons each which feels absurd to me. It has become the norm now that the likes of Mini and Effort would play it way past midnight (almost until next morning lol) and now that game has attracted almost everyone else bar a few.

I pay almost no attention to it because despite understanding Korean I have no idea how the game works

Mini and Effort have been playing a lot of 랜능크 after proleague for a long long time, usually with ggaemo, YSC or Calm

Recent funding might have increased since JD got addicted to it

Remember the time Bisu announced his retirement from ASL after getting knocked out by Snow? He must have an episode of PTSD about it today, getting beaten 0-3 by Snow in almost the same manner in every game (outplayed by just dragoon and reaver control)

Really? It's basically a 2v2 game but each player is given a special ability, like starting with 2 Nexuses and 100 minerals, or having Reavers that can shoot and walk faster, or having Corsairs that can transform to DT at will... There are hundreds of special abilities like that and that's what makes the game fun also it's nowhere near balance lol.

I can see it develop into a big community like fastest.

Yeah and Bisu and JD are playing it more and more recently.

That random ability team game 랜능크 (rannunk) is hilarious which is why it has a good amount of audience, especially with JD and Bisu getting into it. Effort, Mini, Ggaemo, and Calm are the usual players and they always throw banters at each other since all 4 players can talk on discord with each other while playing.

The races are random and abilities are random. There's a good amount of strategy involved for each abilities and they type it in game to their teammates. When one player falls, they remain silent and can't help until their teammate types out or wins the game.

One of the most overpowered ability in that game is called 방플 (bangpuel), which allows you and your teammate to see everyone's ability and the entire map, basically a map hack. And in one of the game Bisu had that ability but messed up big time and loss lol.

There's also a game where JD and Effort vs Soulkey and Hero, and JD nearly lost all his base but the other team didn't completely wipe him out, they forgot about his command center and barracks, so JD float them down and secretly rebuilt his army while pretending/acting that he lost by sighing and sounding sad. Then he came back and helped Effort destroyed them, it was so funny. His fan said his acting was good lol.

The game is competitive in nature since they are playing for cash but it's more chill than major proleague where there's a lot of tension. I think this game mode will become more popular in the future as gamers age and can't keep up with with the youngsters but still providing a good amount of strategy, teamwork, and laughters.

This site shows sample clips of abilities.

https://blog.naver.com/jhwon_00/222326929848

Full list of abilities can be found here.

https://namu.wiki/w/

Both are in Korean, so you would need to translate it. I couldn't find an English list but I guess because it's mostly played by Koreans. I hope they make an English version once this game mode gets bigger for international fans.
