Wow awesome!! You ought to be proud of this triumph !
|
That's really cool, and you deserve the recognition.

You've been a bulwark of the BW community and you got every right to be proud of your achievements, there's no doubt about that. Every recognition you get is the fruit of your passion and efforts and I admire that.
I also see you've accepted this medal long time ago, nothing wrong with that. But think about this: in the light of recent events that made obvious that Blizzard people are a bunch of sexist good for nothing losers and human filth in general, is it acceptable to show the plaque? Do you want to be associated with such trashy people? Because hanging their recognition of you, while knowing the staff of the company is full of criminals (there's no way around it, I'll use this word) suggests you're siding with them. It is highly unlikely they were decent folk four years ago and turned detestable two years ago, isn't it? You say you have a wife, I have a daughter. I feel nothing but enmity to companies like Blizzard that treat women like trash. This would be the sole reason I would hide, if not throw away that plaque. The BW game is amazing, the staff of the current company is trash, I don't think you gain anything by showing you like being appreciated by such people, but it's for you to decide.
that's just one article on the matter: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/aug/08/activision-blizzard-lawsuit-women-sexual-harassment

Chill out, this really isn’t the place to talk about the sexism stuff.
I remember this but hadn’t seen the medal up close before, it’s pretty cool.I wish i’d picked up the double vinyl record blizzard put out with all the soundtracks on it around that time.Saw it on the Blizzard shop site for $20 and didn’t pull the trigger. It goes for silly money now.

I guess to me, the game is separate from the company. That coin is double-sided, and the back side is the Blizzard logo. I told my wife I don't like that the coin and the header of the paper have the exact same anniversary logo, but I can't in good faith display the Blizzard logo, which is why it's anniversary-side up.

Yeah, the company has a lot of perps but it also had a lot of victims.
I don't know how or why you're making a divide between BW and the current company when people who made BW protected the status quo of protecting perps in the "current" company. Even back then, they were shit, with Bob Fitch literally having to bring his newborn into work so they could continue crunch on BW.
I don't think having abusers being in the company takes away recognition of Chill's efforts in the community.

I like to think of these certificates as something where Blizzard tried to act for the Starcraft community and thanked those who were strongly involved in it. So I can see the qualms about supporting and displaying the Blizzard logo, but it's still also a (well-deserved) symbol of recognition from the community.

Mine still sits next to me in my drawer too! I'm waiting for the day my children sneak into my office and destroy it. I really do need to get it on a wall lol.

The next game you put on your channel should be the Babydaggers PvP/PvT/PvZ we've been waiting years for.

TBH why are you on this site? Most of the people on this forum play blizzard games. How naive of you to be on this platform.

Congratulations, Chill

He considers the community to be entirely separate from Blizzard itself. I think we can all agree with that as a reasonable perspective.
