So... exactly like Blizzcon?
Well it wouldn't be exactly the same because Blizzcon has groups but sure, why not?
I do not think it should be exactly like Blizzcon, but I think purely a popularity contest is stupid. What I think would be nice is either some sort of weighted average (of fan vote, player vote, and something like aligulac score) or a qualifier for GSL vs. the World. For player vote, let's put some restriction on this. Players must have qualified for GSL Code S or top 32 of a WCS event. If a qualifier, just have the players, who qualified for the voting, play against each other.
I actually like a popularity tourney just for fun thing, I don't like when random people who dont even watch the game vote for a player they dont even know, but oh well it's still pretty lit even with Elazer getting in
Elazer's voters know as little about SC2 as the people that voted in a tier 3 Zerg player the last two years: piss nothing.
Get out of here lmao, scarrlett is always a threat in every tourney and has been pretty solid minus maybe the last 4-6months, Elazers voters doesnt even know who he is lmao, dont even try and compare the fanbase of each voters.

Scarlett is the player I hate the most with Naniwa.

Hoping for a Dark win.
while that would be fair and i agree, i think they're a bit scared of the lowest Koreans beating the top foreigners and that being a bit embarrassing.
while i don't think that's super likely currently, it is definitely a possibility.
In the last four months and half, Dark has played two ZvZ series, a 2-0 against Dongraegu and a 2-1 against Ragnarok. Don't be so sure he will advance, Elazer has better chanches against him than Scarlett.
Ok, I understand how people do not vote for the most entertaining terran, which is Gumiho, but how can you not vote for Innovation, who is the second best terran after Maru. Why would you pick Fantasy? He's so bad, he will lose like every game. Gosh.

I find Fantasy a really entertaining player also, actually. And he's had some interesting wins in GSL. And he has old-school fans like me who followed him in BW and SC2 both and want to see what he can pull off.
Without INnoVation this tournament looks pretty sad. Community has betrayed Inno. IDK why FanTaSy deserved the seed in this tournament more than INno, his group in the Code S was really weak. FanTaSy has never reached the half of the Inno's glory. Even in the WCS standings Inno has more pts. Shame on you guys...

What a joke of a comment lol
How many top 4s has Scarlett made circuit wide WCS events? Threat. LOL
People saying INno deserved to get in over Fantasy because he's higher in ranking but still voted him in last year when he did worse than TY and Gumi in every tournament.

True, Inno is a legendary player and I like him a lot, he hasn’t had a great couple of years though.
Inno like Scarlett in the world team has been in there over players who have performed better in the past.
Hopefully a better system is drawn up in future. I think a combination of WCS seeds for yearly consistency, a qualifier for players who are in a good run of form, and have a fan favourite vote for a few spots would strike a decent balance.
With Innovation, Cure & Gumiho not going to the tournament (despite fantasy going) & non-korean Terrans not being as good as the other non-koreans. As well as Maru drawing stats & TY drawing Serral there is a chance Terrans don't go far in GSL vs the world at all. I just hope there isn't a patch or a bunch of complaining because of it. The game is very well balanced right now (between 49-51% all matchups) which is as good as we really get and I think that deserves more appreciation considering the game is so complex.
It would be funny if Elazer beat Dark. I wonder if Time can replicate his vs Serral in assembly skills vs (seemingly slumping) soO. Maru vs Stats is hype. Wonder if Maru has something planned for Stats blink robo opener. Neeb vs Showtime, I don't want the community to use the result of this exclusively to name best foreign Protoss. I wonder if TY will try to beat lategame Serral again after how HSC brood/infestor game went. Im looking forward to Trap showing what he can do in PvT vs HeroMarine who doesn't seem to understand the matchup. Reynor seems to be weak lategame vs T but is better than special in general. Im looking forward to see what Fantasy brings out in TvP and looking forward to seeing Classic in this tournament in general, I think its his last before military service and he looked like a top 3 player in the world earlier this year, some of his recent results were a bit concerning though.
Looks like every round will have good matchups.
I agree with poopis predictions from page 1. With classic and dark favoured to get to the semis too.

Aside from Dark Elazer, Trap Heromarine and Classic Fantasy (these will be a comical landslide), the matches look quite interesting. It's a bit annoying that we have a match like Maru vs Stats who both are contenders to win the whole thing but well, what can we do. Viewership will be better with more foreigners advancing I suppose...
