Wish they'd go back to it really being GSL vs the world in the bracket. Think foreigners are strong enough that not everyone but Serral loses automatically, especially with a bit of bracket luck.

Pretty happy with the vote after all. With Elazer getting in through troll votes I can happily dedicate myself to rooting for Fanta and actually just enjoy the slaughter of foreigners for once

Dafuck? Maru v STats? oO Well... also Fanta v Classic, let's see how he preparers when he was all about "I must be at this event!@#!#!!!"
I imagine France should be able to take this unless Lilbow is busy practicing for Starcraft III. | KadaverBB is my fairy ban mother.

I can just imagine a possible Dark interview.
Dark: I am so jealous of Classic's draw. If he doesn't make it to the semifinals, he is a fool.

(Note that I do not necessarily think this is true. It is also an example of Dark leaning into his persona.)

Please if there's going to be a next time just invite the highest ranking players of both regions and have the highest of one region play the lowest of the other etc. and go from there.

Hoping for a Dark win.

I Protoss winner, could it be?

What's the head-to-head for Classic and Reynor look like? Did they only play that time that Reynor beat him?
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

So... exactly like Blizzcon?

Well it wouldn't be exactly the same because Blizzcon has groups but sure, why not?

I do not think it should be exactly like Blizzcon, but I think purely a popularity contest is stupid.
What I think would be nice is either some sort of weighted average (of fan vote, player vote, and something like aligulac score) or a qualifier for GSL vs. the World.
For player vote, let's put some restriction on this. Players must have qualified for GSL Code S or top 32 of a WCS event. If a qualifier, just have the players, who qualified for the voting, play against each other.

I actually like a popularity tourney just for fun thing, I don't like when random people who dont even watch the game vote for a player they dont even know, but oh well it's still pretty lit even with Elazer getting in

Elazer's voters know as little about SC2 as the people that voted in a tier 3 Zerg player the last two years: piss nothing.

I feel bad that TY will be the sacrificial lamb for Serral, but maybe he has a chance. Still expect 3-2 win for Serral. Special vs. Reynor seems like a bit of a waste, one of them should've swapped spots on the Classic vs. Fantasy matchup instead. Neeb vs. Showtime too is a huge waste.

These group draws are disappointing.

For a random draw this sure turned out well. Very stupid that they don’t make sure every match is foreign vs kor in ro16 though.

i actually like it better this way, it'd be really lame if somehow all the foreigners lost like it used to be

What does it matter if they all go out in the first round or the second in your scenario? The only thing that that accomplishes is that it gives additional prize money to the lesser players because of bracket luck which is the exact opposite of how things should work.

Bracket luck is always a thing in basically every single SC2 tournament there’s ever been though.

You could seed it by WCS points and have best foreigner against worst Korean and vice versa moving down the ranks, would be how I’d do it if it was to be seeded.

On the other hand rigidly seeding a tournament with such a popularity vote component seems a bit wonky
