Dark: I am so jealous of Classic's draw. If he doesn't make it to the semifinals, he is a fool. (Note that I do not necessarily think this is true. It is also an example of Dark leaning into his persona.)

Well it wouldn't be exactly the same because Blizzcon has groups but sure, why not?

I do not think it should be exactly like Blizzcon, but I think purely a popularity contest is stupid. What I think would be nice is either some sort of weighted average (of fan vote, player vote, and something like aligulac score) or a qualifier for GSL vs. the World. For player vote, let's put some restriction on this. Players must have qualified for GSL Code S or top 32 of a WCS event. If a qualifier, just have the players, who qualified for the voting, play against each other.

I actually like a popularity tourney just for fun thing, I don't like when random people who dont even watch the game vote for a player they dont even know, but oh well it's still pretty lit even with Elazer getting in

The only thing that that accomplishes is that it gives additional prize money to the lesser players because of bracket luck which is the exact opposite of how things should work.

Bracket luck is always a thing in basically every single SC2 tournament there’s ever been though. You could seed it by WCS points and have best foreigner against worst Korean and vice versa moving down the ranks, would be how I’d do it if it was to be seeded. On the other hand rigidly seeding a tournament with such a popularity vote component seems a bit wonky
