And once again Maru has the toughest path to the final. On the other hand, Serral can have other strong XvT players to eliminate Maru before he gets to play him, how lucky.

Though he has been smacking all of Maru's skyterran shenanigans on stream lately.

Dark 3-0ing Elazer? I doubt it; Dark is the favourite, but I would really love to see the villain of this whole fanvote upsetting the Code S champ: it's possible with EU ZvZ! Also, TIME has a shot to advance if soO is playing like he did at ASUS ROG. Stats having an easy path if he beats Maru? He lost 2-0 to Showtime yesterday, maybe it wouldn't be that easy. Classic is deceptively weakish in TvP but I think he should be strong enough to beat Fantasy. I would say Dark 3-2, TIME 3-2, Maru 3-1, Showtime 3-2, Serral 3-1, Trap 3-0, Reynor 3-1, Classic 3-1.

Sad for Heromarine, his TvP is not that good at the moment and even if he manages to win there will wait Serral for him.

That said I feel they really should force foreigner vs Korean matchups, but if they’re not going to do that it’s worked out OK to my tastes anyway. Fantasy’s vP is interesting to watch and he approaches it differently to many, so getting a good P in Classic should be good. Serral vs Ty hype as well, having pretty convincingly beat Inno now another top Korean Terran. TIME is looking good at Assembly and soO is on a semi slump, but will be a stern test for the most exciting talent to come out of China and is on an upward trajectory.

If Blizzard is selling the ‘foreigners have caught up to koreans’ narrative, prove it with more direct GSL vs the world. If they intend to secure certain foreigner presence in the later stages, then Blizzard is just admitting foreigners are weaker than Koreans. What they are selling does not align with what they are actually doing. What a joke.

Why not just throw all the koreans towards all the foreigners right at the first round to see who’s better? Now with this puny format we get less gsl vs the world and more seperate WCS/GSL matchups, which is bad for the viewership anyway. What they are selling does not align with what they are actually doing. What a joke. What are you talking about? How is it "special privileges" when they literally made a random draw? What you are actually saying is that you DO want special privileges for the Koreans by guaranteeing them a foreigner opponent in the first round. Blizzard doesn't "intend" anything. If they did they would have placed restrictions on the bracket but that's exactly what they didn't do. They see all players as equal in this tournament, so they are treating them all the same. It aligns perfectly.

The current bracket style isn't so bad although it does suck to see some of the favorites matched up in the opening round. At least we are guaranteed to see some great opening games. However, it would be really interesting if each round it was reordered to guarantee korean vs foreigner matchup first and then the remaining would be KvK or FvF. However, this format would give the greatest possible potential to eliminating Foreigners as early as possibe.

1) He wasn't higher in WCS standings than Scarlett 2) Scarlett didn't make it to the two previous events over more deserving players. The moral of the story is Blizzard shouldn't be sponsoring popularity contests.
