GSL Code S resumed after an upset-laden IEM Katowice, with the first couple of RO16 groups offering up a few more surprises after the previous week's international spectacle.
While Maru advanced to the quarterfinals from Group A, he was made to advance in second place after losing to a feisty Bunny who continued his strong run of form in 2019. While not as shocking as Maru's IEM Katowice group stage elimination, it deepened worries that the 3x Code S champion of 2018 may have regressed considerably in form.
In Group D of the RO16, soO traded one curse for another. A kong no longer, soO suffered the common 'championship hangover' and was eliminated after two series losses to Rogue. TY and Rogue were able to partially make up for their lackluster results at IEM Katowice, securing their advancement to the Code S quarterfinals.
Code S now goes on another week hiatus for another big-money international tournament in WESG, which will be held over March 11-17. Code S will resume on March 20th with Group C of the RO16, where Classic, Trap, INnoVation, and sOs will be in action (check out Liquipedia for more information).
TY absolutely crushes the group of death and TL's comment is that "TY and Rogue were able to partially make up for their lackluster results at IEM", as if the two had showed similar levels of play today?
TY is looking by far the best of the eight players who have played in the Ro16 so far.

TL also keeps commenting that soO is a "kong no more" but nobody de-kong'd YellOw any time he won a tournament that wasn't a Korean league. And I'm pretty sure no amount of MLG wins saved MarineKongPrime.

We were all willing to forget about KeSPA cup to preserve soO's pristine Kong status--forgetting about an IEM shouldn't be too much harder.
Ty and Rogue are both such monsters. I wish we got to see soO vs Ty tbh soOs zvt looks unbelievable atm. Im so confused how rogue just destroyed soO so hard after soO took down Serral and seems like everytime Rogue plays Serral he gets destroyed??? Stylistic thing?

Well he better stop trolling asap then because his second set vs Impact was way to close, he loses if Impact was just a bit more carefull with his fight

You can't compare early BW with late LoTV, Starleague were immensely more prestigious than any special event Yellow ever won, whereas IEM Katowice is arguably better than Code S in 2019.
MarineKing was the first true Kong in Sc2, I guess that's why we remember him as such; also, MLG were good but not as good as IEM and he was "only" 0-4 in korean finals, soO was so deeply committed to the kongness that such a big win really feels like redemption.

Not really, Ro8 can easily still have perfect 3/3/2 distribution; Dark + any 3 of herO, Dear, Classic, Trap, and sOs is possible, or even likely. The groups with lots of Terran just happened to play first.
