4 hours is not a long time in the esports world, I see dota tournaments streaming 12 hours straight and then they do it again the next day.
The more brood war the better I say.

It's really unsatisfying to see your fav player knocked out in a Bo1. 4 hours is not a long time in the esports world, I see dota tournaments streaming 12 hours straight and then they do it again the next day. The more brood war the better I say. While I 100% see the merit in outscar and FiWiFaKi's points, this is my sentiment as well. Brood War games are QUICK, with the longest TvT games still running shorter than the average League of Legends match. I see nothing wrong with watching 6-9 Stork games in a single night. Sounds like a damn good time.

I'm sad that BeSt lost, but Rain deservedly moved on. BeSt really should've been able to beat Mong. His PvT is unreal. Mong just prepared better for the night. PvP is going to be like the Bo1 was even in a Bo3, that's just how PvP is sometimes, it's a complete coinflip and you can lose in build order losses. Mong played fantastic and the macro he had against Best was insane. A bit interesting how sSak and Mong who I rooted hard against is in the Ro16 and Last who I rooted for is not. A bit unexpected Terrans thats moving on, or am I just underrating them? People really sleep on sSak. He really is amazing, he's done really well in a lot of the SSLs and even last ASL. Mong is pretty well rounded too, his macro as proved yesterday vs Best was really good.

Do the proponents of this idea really think you would get games as good or unusual as you would have with a Bo1 format? The most likely reason to even see something like corsairs vs ghosts is that the players can focus on preparing a maximum of 3 games. Increasing the number of games just emphasizes preparation in a general way like improving your standard macro play. The argument is almost never from an "I think groups would be better and more exciting" perspective and almost always from a "my favourite player was knocked out!" reaction. Keep bo1 groups, if it was a knock out from this stage with bo3 Vs one opponent would people complain? It would be the same 2 losses and you're out and yet I reckon people wouldn't complain about it being too few games to really show skill.

His macro was not insane, in later game he was 20-30 supply behind Best all the time, it is Mong's positioning and goliath army control that eventually won him the game. Besides Best could not properly defend and almost died to first 3-fac push which he failed to scout and when he did it was too late because he went 3d nexus with barely any units. Moreover for some unknown reason he built his robo far outside of his base making his shuttle useless which could help him in defending the push. But yes, I guess you can say that Mong was better prepared while Best was just too greedy.

Would say that game against BeSt on Crossing Fields was great. Even though Best did a fantastic job catching up and taking the lead, Mong played it extremely well and macroed like a champ to take the game even with that large carrier count. Definitely a must watch!
