Here's the story: http://teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=72054
summary: I got a D in AP bio for the year and asked for opinions, a lot of people said it's not enough to get rescinded. I am attending Rutgers University for Engineering.
Two weeks ago or so, I requested my counselor writing me a letter about how that 1 bad grade does not reflect the student I am and also my work ethics, blah blah.
I also received a copy of the letter, but my counselor told me to not send it out with the final transcript because: -it only attracts attention to college. -he thinks i don't need to be concerned since I have 1 C, 1 B, and 4-5 A's.
However he siad if by chance i get notified of an explanation, probation, or even a revoke of my app, then he would send out the letter. He also said if I want to, I could send out the letter myself but he recommends I don't.
Question: send the counselor letter or no?

Why try to attract attention to yourself by sending it out?
Follow your counselor's advice, makes the most sense. And I also highly doubt they'll rescind your acceptance because of one bad grade. -_-

It would seem strange that a university would take the time to weed out applicants to accept a certain number. Then go over their list of accepted students agian to weed them down more? Seems like a waste of time and resources. Im sure you will be fine. Enjoy your summer man!

Do what your counselor says. If you send it out, think about how it makes you appear to colleges.

dont do it my friend got like 4 ds and carnegie mellon didnt kick him out and like 2 cs

was your AP test score good atleast? i got a C in bio but a 5 on the AP. i doubt they'll do anything
|

dunno, probably like a 3.i didnt even study =o

Sure your counselor probably handles hundreds of students going into college every year, but you want the input of a bunch of people on the internet who have probably only done the process twice tops, with some maybe having never done it
|
I echo everyone else here: don't send it unless if you do get rescinded.
|
Thanks for the advice people!
I guess if I get notified to explain, get probation, or rescinded (probably not...) then I will send out the letter ^^

Did you not believe us the first time we told you?
You would have to drop your average horribly to get rescinded. A D and a C amoung A's isn't going to hurt you, especially during senior semester when most people start slacking. Its called the senior slide for a reason.
Chill out and enjoy the summer.

Sorry dude. I keep...
overreacting. Because of one fucking bad grade. Bah
And I asked to see if I should send the letter. better not unless I hear back --; thanks for the advice
