Well, there are couple of factors: 1. Both Inno and Dream were playing under their normal form for some time and they weren't fielded that much because of that. So main players for SKT this year became Dark (the Ace), soO and Classic. 2. Dark and soO played really well in Round 1 and 2 however they both dipped in form a bit + current meta is really hard for zerg. 3. Classic oddly wasn't fielded that much eariler so I suspected that he was also without form. Both zergs out of form and in bad meta + Inno & Dream still struggling + shaky Classic + the fact that SKT already is in playoffs of this season + they played great round 1 & 2 so how long can You play that well and remain undefeated?

Ty. Makes sense, in particular the point about Dark/soO + meta .

It's worrying because there was a similar situation two PL's ago where we smashed everyone for a round or two and then began a dip in ro3 and then just sucking in ro4, barely making into the grand finals and then playing an extremely lackluster finals vs KT (that was lost).

It was actually amazing. I'm not saying Classic played bad, his execution would have been good enough to win. He had it and let it slip away over time with some weird decisions, and there really was no need for that to ever happen to him.

It's a hyperbole. The 1/1 upgrades do help, but just a little. What's really important are the 3 liberators in the big fight at Classic's low HP nexus. That fight was really close and Maru escaped with enough units to drop Classic's main. If you remove those 3 liberators, the fight is actually a complete stomp (with or without the 1/1) in Classic's favor. And if that fight is a stomp Maru is actually dead.
