It's worrying because there was a similar situation two PL's ago where we smashed everyone for a round or two and then began a dip in ro3 and then just sucking in ro4, barely making into the grand finals and then playing an extremely lackluster finals vs KT (that was lost).

It's a hyperbole. The 1/1 upgrades do help, but just a little. What's really important are the 3 liberators in the big fight at Classic's low HP nexus. That fight was really close and Maru escaped with enough units to drop Classic's main. If you remove those 3 liberators, the fight is actually a complete stomp (with or without the 1/1) in Classic's favor. And if that fight is a stomp Maru is actually dead.
