Curious vs Impact
Curious from the Freecs faces Impact from SKT in the first series of GLS Code A round 2.
Curious has struggled in ZvZ with a 2-6* record. Only managing to take maps from Losira in Code S and a victory over Departure in Proleague. Curious lost to dark 0-2 in Code S. As well as playing Departure a 2nd time in Proleauge. this time losing.
Despite having a poor win rate when you look deeper its clear he has faced many Zerg players who are a tier above him. It's hard to count losses to Dark and Losira harshly against Curious. His equal record with Departure and 0-1 record vs Solar perhaps more relevant to his matchup vs Impact.
Impact was the surprise of the Proleague Semi-finals after being sent out by SKT to play to Stats. But along with every other player sent out by SKT he was unable to stop Stats on his way to an All-Kill. However, in ZvZ impact has a 9-7* record. Playing Solar in the final of a Leifing Cup and losing 3-4 in a very close series. Also boasting a couple of 2-1 victories over TLO and Armani in ASL Prime. Only playing one ZvZ in Proleague where he lost to Rogue.
Impact has a potential advantage in the form of SoO also playing a ZvZ for his Code A match and the in-house practice between the two could be very beneficial for Impact.
I see Impact taking this 3-1, the two are fairly equal in skill with a slight edge to Impact in the matchup. With that edge and the practice partner of SoO Impact has the advantage and should take the win.
My Prediction: Curious 1 vs 3 Impact
Creator vs ByuL
In the 2nd game of the day we have Creator from Jin Air against CJ's ByuL
Creator has a 17-7* record vs Z with only one game in Proleague where he beat Losira. All the other games are from various Douyu Cups. Notable results include beating Hydra twice 2-1. As well as 2-0ing Soulkey. However, he lost 1-2 against Pet and Symbol. Creator's play against Losira was impressive holding the nydus play of Losira and reacting perfectly to flank his opponent’s army in the deciding fight which at first looked to be favouring Losira.
Overall Creator has a very good record against Z, the real question is will it transfer over in such an important game against a very good Zerg in ByuL.
ByuL has barely any matches vs Protoss on record. Two losses in Proleague to Classic and Patience. His only wins coming in a Leifing Cup against Puck and Jim. ByuL is having a rough time of late, he is 3-6 in Proleague 2016. He failed to make it through Code A round 1 losing to aLive 3-1.
Overall I think Creator will take this in a very close series 3-2. With ByuL's recent form being the main reason.
My Prediction: Creator 3 vs 2 ByuL
Bunny vs TRUE
Cj's Bunny takes on PSISTORM Gaming's TRUE in my game of the day. This is the matchup I’m looking forward to the most and will try to go into more specific detail for this series.
Bunny hasn't played many games against Zerg recently, with a loss to Dark in Proleague being his main result. However back in Round 1 of Code S he beat Soulkey and Symbol 2-1 and 2-0 respectively. These results are perhaps a little outdated but still give some information.
Since April Bunny has been struggling in Proleague and SSL going 4-9. However, many of these opponents are top tier players, such as Maru, INnoVation, Classic and Dear. The lack of Zerg games for Bunny recently may hinder TRUE's ability to prepare for Bunny specifically.
Bunny has been having a rough time recently against some of the best opponents in Korea, how good his TvZ is almost impossible to predict with his only game recently being a cheese Hellbat push with SCV pull against Dark.
TRUE has been playing a lot of online cups recently and streaming at www.twitch.tv/truesc2. For those interested. With a 33-20* record. His notable victories being 2-0 Gumiho, 2-1 Keen and 2-0 TIME. He has mentioned on stream before that he fins ZvT to be hard matchup. Some of his defeats have been at the hands of Reality 1-3, Byun 0-2 and Keen also equalised the score with a 2-0 victory.
TRUE plays an interesting style of ZvT often staying on hatchery tech, relying on Ling, Bane and Queens to defend early Terran aggression. TRUE was not a Zerg to invest into overlord speed early like many other Zergs have started doing. Maybe he will make an adaption for this series. He often goes into Hive and Ultralisks when he does eventually starting teching. Preferring Ling Bane Ultra over Roach Ravager. The outcome of TRUE's games almost always depend on his ability to repel the Terran drops and pressure. I think creep spread denial is a must for Bunny to be able to punish TRUE's style.
I think provided TRUE is able to practice efficiently with his team not really able to provide Kespa level players, he will have good chance of beating Bunny.
To conclude I think TRUE should be able to take the Series with a 3-2 score line being most likely. The games will be decided by early pressure from Bunny and if TRUE weather the storm and allow his style work how it should.
My Prediction: Bunny 2 vs 3 TRUE
