It was the same punch that JDS tagged Cain with and the result was 10 rounds of Cain pounding the life out of JDS. It was also the same punch Matt Serra tagged GsP with, only to have Serra get dominated in their eventual rematch. Will history repeat itself? I'm thinking yes, considering how badly that ended up for McRNC'd.

He was winning the fight at that point, but - as it happens in MMA - he got hit right to the chin. It was clear that the fight was over after that, Nate did a great job to not let him recover. He's gonna enjoy his five minutes of fame, grats to him. Every fan knows that this happens to each and every fighter. Perhaps, the MMA gods of justice have spoken after the crazy Aldo fight.. and rightfully so It does not need overanalyzing, both fighters were fun to watch and on par with each other.. McGregor was "winning", was pretty close I think, but got caught. Still, the way he takes fights, tries to break the weight classes, limits etc etc... he deserves great respect fot that. I'm somehow sad that a huge shitstorm is coming for him.

Holm's ground game is way too dependent on her strength. As we saw in round 2 when Meisha got top half guard Holm's ability to stall out the ground and pound just by stretching Meisha's arm away. Which is pretty crazy considering she was bottom most of that exchange. 2ndly when we saw Tate get the first RNC in round 2, it takes crazy strength to peel the arm the way Holm did. With that being said, in round 5, when Tate had the RNC grip, she actually didn't have the angle on Holm. While the grip was underneath Holm's chin, her forearm was across Holm's windpipe, which is not ideal, you want the windpipe in the elbow crease, with your forearm and bicep squeezing on the side of the throat. So when Holm tried to shuck Tate off, she actually allowed Tate to get both hooks in, and readjust the angle of the RNC. Holm should have kept pressing into the cage while standing up, and look to strip the hands of Tate away, while using the cage to prevent the 2nd hook of Tate to get the angle she needed. McGregor's fight, he got gassed as fuck, and first time we saw him significantly rocked. It was pretty obvious he wasn't used to fighting a bigger and longer opponent. It looked like was willing to trade the 1 for 1 punch, and hoping to come up with more power. Nate's ability to throw combo's really fucked up Mcgregor. When we saw McGregor getting caught it was from a doubling up of punches, and we saw McGregor turning back into the 2nd punch after swaying away from the first punch. One thing I like from McGregor as an adjustment vs Diaz's range, in the first round was his willingness to throw the overhand left. Usually we see an invisible no-tell left straight, but the over hand was designed for the shorter man as a way to throw a bomb from a long range. Also McGregor re-released his uppercuts in this fight, using the flaw of Diaz's tendency to duck. As far as Nate's boxing, he was always able to trade multiple punches in round 2 vs mcgregor. You can tell the combination work of Nate's boxing pad work came into work in that around two. Would have been interesting if this fight went to 3rd and 4th round, to see if his cardio was as on point as everyone was saying, but it was pretty obvious McGregor was significantly slower in round 2.
