I just made a topic (http://teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=71110) about my thoughts on the zynastor / oblivion interview, and it was soon closed. Apparently there had been 3 topics about it before, all which were closed. Few read the closed section so how are we to know?
The reason for the closing of the first topic was because "hey we dont support hacks or hacking or hackers or hackmakers here." This is a totally stupid thing to say. Firstly chaoslauncher, is technically a hack. Secondly Zynaster has done good things too like the creation of observer mode and apm-live. Thirdly we aren't supporting him or his hacks but discussing it (in a negative way too).
I think that interview is something many people would be interested in seeing and discussing (clearly true by the fact that 3 topics about it were made). Frankly I am just annoyed by closing of topics not allowing for any discussion. If this topic gets closed or removed I am out of here for good, there are plenty of other sites that allow free speech.
Edit: actually close this topic please.

personally, i see those threads as pretty marginal, i generally don't really like seeing threads get closed or posts deleted but these just aren't that great to begin with. you're giving publicity to a hack maker, and the only real responses you're going to get here are 'wow what a faggot' and 'hope he dies.' so it's either gonna be 1) an open thread with shitty, generic responses or 2) a closed thread that just avoids the issue altogether.
edit: it's equally stupid to argue how obviously helpful programs like chaos are 'technically' hacks. the intentions behind them and their uses are absolutely positive and do not in any way compromise the integrity of the game.
ps. nobody's gonna close your blog, you should probably edit out your stupid leaving threat so you don't embarrass yourself

Your reason for closing is much more logical, I agree it is bad to give publicity to hacks and probably not much useful discussion will take place, If that was provided as the reason for original close I probably wouldn't have posted this blog.
I still feel it should be discussable though because I suggested the idea of him deliberately making it detectable in such a way that blizzard and common users would never bother to check, but leagues could use to keep it clean. Maybe someone else might have insightful things to say, but we will never know if it isn't discussed.
Also I will not edit top post, it is not really a threat but just a true statement to let moderators know that I value the ability to have a voice. I like TL.net so I rather look stupid than not give moderators a hint as to what I (and hopefully others) want.

TL is not a democracy. The reasoning behind closing the interview is fairly obvious. Why would you want discussion of hacks at all on your legitimate SC forum? It doesn't matter if all people are doing it are insulting the creator.

Reasons to discuss hacks: How to stop them? How to detect them? Etc, ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away.

What? You think Zynastor is going to show up and be like K guys, here's how to circumvent my work? The interview topic contributed nothing. The entire thread was people discussing how much of an asshole he was. When someone comes up with an antihack that stops/detects drophack/maphack then yeah, sure, it warrants a post. Use some common sense.
Also, classing Chaoslauncher as a hack is true. But the intent is wholly different. Is it hypocritical to spit upon third party software and then risk getting banned to see your own APM and some other features? Yes, it is. Can you see the difference between using Chaoslauncher and using Oblivion? I fucking hope so.

Hurry somebody close the TSL thread about hacking.

We don't support hacks and the people who make them. We don't give them publicity.

and i think that is a good policy.
The guy has no remorse and he makes hacks for thousands of people who dont deserve the time of day. So who cares? If you do care, interview him yourself. If people start gaining fame from legit organizations like TL.net than suddenly hacking or making hacks doesnt seem like sucha bad idea.

I read the closed forum for cheap thrills. And I'm sure if you search functioned zynastor you'd have found the topics that had been closed. Not hard stuff. As for the "zomg threes peach!!!" stuff, tl doesn't work like that.
You really have nothing to complain about. You made a topic that had already been made several times because you failed to use search function. It was closed. That's all.

Free speech, but even more important, publicizing and supporting hacking doesn't exist here.

kwark give me a fucking break no where does it say always read closed topics to see if your topic has been discussed before and i didnt use the search because it recent so not seeing it on front page meant to be not discussed before. if closed topics werent meant to be read they wouldnt be moved to their own forum. also im not complaining about MY thread being closed, that is understandable, but im complaining not being able to discuss this in general regardless who's topic it is.
tl has made its reason clear why they dont wont it discussed, they dont want to give him publicity. this is perfectly fine, just would have been nice if they explained that when they closed other topics so i would have known why and not made this stupid blog post.
but in other note seriously this zynastor person might be more reasonable than you guys think, if you ask him to make his hacks detectable for leagues he might, but you never know unless you ask.

He said specifically in his interview SEVERAL times that he fixed his hacks so that his users wouldnt complain ie making them undetectable or fixing the methods that made them detectable. Nothing absolutely NOTHING accept your blind logic that he "seems like a reasonable guy" suggests he would pull a 180 and make anti hack hacks? Are you kidding me? Did you even read the interview?

You will not convince any of the hackers on bwh to go over to the light side. Best you can hope for is that they leave ICCup alone. Drophacks are about the only hacks considered malicious there.

edit: ok asked him myself via email, feel free to insult me farther after my attempt fails.

Yeah. Evidently of the two of us I am the only one too.
jesus. I said nothing he said would even hint towards that being a possibility and you ignored that sentiment cause it paints you a moron. And no he doesnt "make it very clear he doesnt care about leagues" all he has said was "its not my concern where they use it or who they are."
