Hi, dear tl, I am a one of thousands member / user / lurker to "exist" on you, thank you for that. There is no cow level and yet more and more I am realizing that being too old for tl might be something I personally need to address properly.
I was wondering if tl ers could / would want to discuss/debate the issue? Am I (are you) feeling too old for tl?
Linking to all the threads that would address such issues (even tangentially), identifying more clearly tl ers that have "maybe/arguably" identified this "purity of essence" that our beloved fictional character quoted/defined and wish only to impart it unto/into others.
Personal reasoning + Show Spoiler +I don't judge people. I am sorry to admit that I think many people judge too often. Pre-judging you before you have even finished exposing them your internally "turmoiling" argument. , Judging what comes out of people (me, you, anyone through their posts (rants/creativity/try hard posts/etc)) quicker than even they are capable of witnessing themselves (so they don't know this mechanic, or have not realized its presence enough to care, or whatever). I don't judge people, but people might think I do judge them (properly or improperly), how without these previous statements can I showcase it? I don't judge people but I never cuddle them (well, there are very few, but these are instances that call for it of course, but it is not a mechanic that I feel should be encouraged). I don't judge but I encourage, push people beyond the distance that their own nose (interests/curiosity) brings/allow them. I feel that time is of the essence, we have none to lose. I always have felt this urge (earlier than 8, which is arguably early) to not lose time, and I wonder if it is a generational thing? "I would not like to debate "x" with my 16 year old "self" .." I remember agreeing to it a while back somewhere on tl, on the topic of politics. But when I think close enough about it, really I would love it, not because it would be great/special but because that is how I am. I don't mind my age, 41 is a great time (for me). I love discussing with every fringe/age of the spectrum, I have no age bias (other than the obvious "I have kids, don't kid yourself it is hard") and I am very interested in this cross generational specificity.
So, I guess I would like other tl ers in the same "disposition" (who would think they might be too old for tl) to humor us all with their "current" view on the matter and devolving or not into the who's who of who feels old (or not) on tl or "tl old".
TLDR: you feel old on tl, you don't feel old on tl, tell us about it why don't you.. we are ready to read that dank s#it!

I don't see why anybody would be too old for TL. Might be too old for some of the garbage threads (which I'm not) but there's plenty of quality content for anyone who's interested in games, or even general discussions on a variety of topics. Granted, there certainly are better forums for discussing politics. Can't avoid the oddball nonsense comments from people who are not too knowledgeable on some of the threads here, but then again that's just part of life. Go have lunch with work mates and someone's going to come up with the stupidest shit you've ever heard. You can't say you're too old for lunch with coworkers. The retarded shit people say is a constant in life.
Summary: Death, taxes, and stupid shit people say.

Well I for one am definitely too old at least to stay up on everything on TL anymore. I've more or less settled into a few niches that I still follow but there's no way I can read all the major threads and be up on all the jokes and insider shit that I used to really enjoy knowing (even if I was never really a participant). Of course, TL is so much larger than it used to be as well. Which is mostly a good thing, I'm glad the site is successful, but I'm not sure how anyone can be up on everything, especially not old, married, employed fathers of young children like me.

You should go ahead and inspire change with your very own girl blog

I guess I am an older TL person. I've been around a while and check here now and then. I don't interact as much anymore, but I have certainly talked about more adult focused topics, like what has happened in my life. From Divorce, Drug use, work life etc.

I find that even though people here are younger they still can have valuable input and perspective. They just may not put it elegantly.
One quote from a reply really changed my perspective on being too old...
What can I say, highschool drama and teenage stories are also real life, worthy of its own podium. You are just older, your interests have changed and your priorities took a u-turn.
This is natural and it happens. The entire time you live you are getting older, growing, becoming a different person. Embrace that change.

Are you still playing Starcraft? I'm 28, not much younger than White_Ra, and I just don't see the things I used to see. Personally I'm very competitive, and I feel very competitive, and I don't think age has much to do with it. That is, I don't see things getting better any time soon. Like yea, I was one of the most talented players of my generation, but I didn't receive much acknowledgement. Yea there were players probably who were on my tier, but it's not like people hang on my nuts like I'm Artosis. Most players who weren't Korean pros are largely forgotten, and I'm not different. I actually don't identify with "good" Starcraft at all any more, I don't like what works. The game has evolved to the point where it doesn't make sense. There's no way Nal_rA and Stork can both be good players. There's no way to regard Bisu as anything other than a good player. In a nutshell, I think by the time I'm your age, Starcraft 3 will be released and the only aspect to the game will be Macro. People will still try cutting corners in exactly the way BW pros did, and it'll prove that there are no shortcuts in RTS.

isn't there LiquidHearth for Heathstone now? Hearthstone is a card game. Doyle Brunson is/was a world class card player and he is 87 bazillion years old.

I Been here for 10 years so I definitely know what your saying.. Its mostly just your posting shifts into other more contact related aspects of the community. Posting becomes less compulsion driven and more event or task oriented.

I don't think the ladder pool ever shaped up Plus I cheat, I make maps and my son is learning rts and the computer, so I get a lot "for free". In any case, drive versus time: no contest!

Wow man, you are really 41? I really would like to sometims hear your life story. You come across as a pretty weird person, I always somehow assumed that's some foolishness of the youth.
I am "only" 33 (so a youngster), married for 7 years and I don't feel too old for TL On the contrary, I started enjoying the place more in the last two or so years after I discovered the LR threads and the ability to (sometimes) share the enjoyment of games there with other people (with the exception of when they become a private IRC channel of always same like five people and nobody knows what they are talking around). I do sometimes became angry or annoyed with something, but that is no different than real life.
Honestly, one of the few things I feel a little bit old for are your antics. Maybe you could try to write more coherently and reduce your random self-centered posts in various unrelated threads? What do you think about making someone else feel less old?

I'm certainly posting less frequently than I used to, but that's more because of real-life distractions (like a job), than just me feeling too old or too mature. I guess more responsibilities is related to getting older though.
