Wiz has been pretty good in the past about keeping the ai up to date with mechanics creep. I don't think hes on the EU team at the moment though. Isn't he the project lead? I watch some Arumba occasionally and he always talks how he's in contact with Wiz who is in charge of EU4.

Did I say that somewhere? That the AI isn't dealing well with the mechanic yet doesn't mean you should change the mechanic so it will basically be how it was. The AI needs an update the fort mechanic how it is is fine.

Wiz is the Ai lead at paradox. He gets shuffled around to different projects to work his magic He contacts a lot of community people to ask about how the ai works according to them (which is more important then how it works to him oddly enough) I think hes with CK right now.

He probably sees the flaws and good points better then them. That doesn't mean he sees what is fun in a better way then them. It also doesn't mean he understands the game around it well enough to see what is actually usable or not. Can have a huge AI flaw that isn't possible to exploit due to how things actually mesh in game.

You take all this stuff yourself and you'd normally guarantee yourself a massive coalition. But what I am doing is feeding a vassal of my vassal (it's kind of tricky to get one of those as the game really tries hard not to let you. But there are at least three ways which I know about). It doesn't cost any AE on your part to do this unlike feeding your own direct vassal. I didn't actually check whether I paid the diplomatic power cost for doing this, in previous patches the country receiving it paid the DIP but that's actually kind of problematic if this isn't DIP-free. edit: it seems to be dip-free

I should be able to take out the pope in 2 more wars, going to be hitting castile next as well. Allied up with France and Austria, Austria lost emperorship so they'll be fine beating up Empire members with me. Diplomatic first, administrative is next up, really sucks that I won't be able to form Italy but what can you do. Lucca is my vassal and Mantua is vassal of vassal.

I've only seen Austria keep the HRE throne once in 4 games I played post-update. Had Saxony voted in twice, both times before the Burgundy implosion and eventually inheriting their lands. France then promptly proceeded to roflstomp through HRE both times D:

How does it work with liberty desire? Do they rebel a lot or is it no problem at all?

Do they rebel a lot or is it no problem at all? long version: There used to be a vassal exploit where you could play vassals in ironman with ridiculous amounts of starting money using the template to build galleys way over force limit. The best was Lebanon released from Syria released from Mamluks which could start with over 900k ducats. Well it turns out that Lebanon cannot DOW anyone, ever - it needs to DOW Syria for independence but since Syria itself is a subject it needs to actually DOW Mamluks. But the game doesn't let you declare on anyone but your direct overlord (+ the independence CB is on Syria and AI will never declare no-CB wars) short version: subjects of subjects cannot declare war, ever.

Development system is half-assed and shallow, fort system is a good idea but makes the game a lot less fun, nerfs to expansion make the game just boring. Only thing I like is the trade system change and that coring can be more viable now So Your experience has been similiar to mine. I like that there is some way i can spend my excess monarch points (developments) put this system causes coring costs to sky rocket. OPMs and small countries spend shittton of points on developments and now coring them even early in the game with claim and adminstrtion ides often gets around 300. Fort systems needs a lot of love. Also the buildings - i would love to see some more options and more variance. I think the gain from developments should scale up with level just as the cost is. Right now there is no incentive to develop rich provinces over the poor.
