1. illegal sports betting in korea is much bigger than it was during the BW scandal so there is more $ to be earned from throwing matches, pinnacle is just a small piece of the pie
2. everyone in the korean sc2 scene already knows that fixing is rampant in proleague especially among players who don't make much money and aren't good enough to dominate individual leagues (where it definitely happens sometimes as well)
3. sc2 is already suffering in korea as is, them investigating or going public trying to stop it is not only futile with the given industry dynamics, but would also likely destroy sc2 in korea
As usual: Post with respect. Don't bash other posters.
Looks pretty bad this time, but surely if MKP was going to throw he's smart enough to do it in a better way than that..? I guess pressure would affect that though.
Byul is also the better player, MKP would have most likely lost even if it wasn't such a weird game.
4:30 youtube time: Marineking gets vision of the spine crawler on the minimap. 5:25 youtube time: Marineking gets on screen vision of the creep in his base. 5:45 youtube time: Marineking sees the creep and reacts on camera.
Also, Marineking has to know it's a proxy hatch somewhere. He sees the pool and gas timing and he sees the lack of hatch at natural/golds. I'm sad to say his play here doesn't make sense at all
It can't get any more obvious than this. This might end up being very damaging. I fear for SC2 in Korea. It wasn't very popular, but it was picking up speed.
Between 4:53 and 4:54 MarineKing is clearly glancing at the minimap. He obviously doesn't do it intentionally, but it's a habit of any experienced players. So even if he didn't spot the Spine and Creep immediately after the Reaper got vision of it (which most progamers in fact would do), there is no way he isn't aware of it after 4:54.
Also I would recommend everyone to just look at his body movement around 5:00 to 5:10, he is extremely uncomfortable as I guess he is in kinda of dilemma here.
Around 5:35 to 5:45 he also glances multiple at the bottom of screen where he immedatietly should notice the creep that is very close to his CC. But still no reaction at all.......
Just quoteing it so everyone can see it. MK is my most favorite player and it just hurts me to see that...
I have to agree. I really don't see how you decide to drop a 3rd CC after your see the creep spreading in your main base; especially when you don't 'see' the massive red dot on the minimap/fog that is the Spine Crawler building for 2+ minutes; especially when your SCV scout reveals that your opponent is on 1 hatch with gas 3:30 into the game with pool only being half done.
I could go on but I don't really need to; watch the game and you'll understand.
This is almost too obvious isn't it? If I wanted to throw a match on purpose, I would just play it out but without making any effort, as if I was tired/out of shape, but I wouldn't certainly do this kind of bronze level mistakes. Like, it's obvious I would get caught.

He didn't scout it intentionally though. When the CC got started, the Reaper was pushed down so it scouted the Spine. Unlucky for Marineking as that probably destroyed his career.
And I do agree that if he was smart, he probably would still have reacted and send his Reapers down to attack it (because you can't really fake it), but I think most will agree that Marineking has never been the most logical player, and to be fair to him, he had to make this decision pretty quickly.

From there, MarineKing sees a dot on his minimap, assuming it to be an overlord, ready in position for a scout around 6 minutes.
But it's not just a dot on the minimap and an overlord dissapears. Instead, it stays on the minimap and he can just check down there to see that it is in fact a spine that is being build and creep around it.

Damn that actually makes a lot of sense.
It was pretty planned and MKP had to decide whether to continue with the plan after accidentally scouting the proxy.
Don't like Marineking but this is sad to see, especially from a veteran player. The betting pattern just seals it for me.
ByuL was favored coming into this, sure, but not even close to that extent. It's also peculiar in how much it shifted leading up to the match.
If people were looking to make money off this from betting on sites like that, wouldn't they know better to not go that hard putting that much money down on it? Pinnacle have made it clear they are obviously not scared to void bets. Surely these people supposedly arranging this put more thought into it than this? Who knows though..
