I don't like 3 Melees, so I'm thinking of speccing Sera back into Ranged.
Everything on Nightmare obviously. I'm like Level11 right now and want to try out a Dragon soon.

I've noticed some items I've crafted have 0 upgrade slots which is annoying when I'm expecting them to have upgrade slots

e: I don't know what the theoretical best party would be, but the safest party I could think of is a tank + 3 ranged, 2 of them mages pref (barrier). Melee dps just doesn't cut it on nightmare imo, I don't have to worry about a dpser getting hurt then I'm wombo comboing everything to pieces, it's enough the tank is kitted in full resist gears. e2: disrupting rifts when clearing them is totally optional. You can often kill the 2nd wave completely before it spawns with dispels and just simply dmging the opening rifts, they have 1k hp.

Funny, but the AI in this game is actually good. I've been torn about it myself as well, because I saw my party members doing pretty smart stuff, but then they just walked into melee range for no reason and I was "meh, nevermind", but after reading some tips, it was my fault. If you set their ai settings properly, they are actually great. Except Cole of course, because dd rogue requires babysitting, so if someone enjoys this game controlling all 4 party members, then nightmare dd rogue is definitely NOT his go-to pick, because it can't be left unattended.

For dragons and select few other extreme health single target fights, the assassin death mark thing is great, for sure. But for every one of those encounters, the game throws a good 50 group fights of 3-5 enemies that can easily be aoed down. e: I also tried the AI follow/defend settings and my group promptly decided to stand still and do nothing, but I'm used to controlling all 4 anyway so no biggie.

Minimum system requirements are AMD Radeon HD 4870, do you reckon this will be tolerable running on Iris Graphics?

The only class with some troubles in the OP department on mid/lategame is the 2 handed warrior, is that it just doesn't have that DPS or synergize that well with the group. You could play withouth a tank if you wanted in lategame, but in my opinion, lategame gameplay in any RPG should always be about OPness mindless fun, so balance can go out the window in that regard to me, so players can experiment wild class combinations to optimize instead of the holy trinity. The only skill a 2 handed warrior has with the ability to break stuff, is whirlwind (it gets pretty insane, and it's fine with static cage, i swear). So this leaves us with early game 1-10 lvls + Show Spoiler + pre sky hold Edit - about the bull rush + static + heavy blow. It works this way, you place the static cage so they would go outside with the knockbacks from bull rush, they will then get knocked down and paralyzed, then you heavy blow into massive damage which combo's with the paralyze and detonates for gazilion damage. Boom, you just killed a party, congratulations. The fight at the mage's base on hinterlands ? It was the shortest ever haha.

Having to micro that one rogue to 1 by 1 kill things is more hassle than simply dropping 2 aoe spells per mage in one spot and the fight being done. It really is as simple as dropping a Pull of the Abyss (and hoping no bugs) followed with 2 fire mines in the middle of it and then Veil Striking the whole lot and boom. Your tank can blow a horn for damage boost and be ready to taunt if something gets past the aoe zone and the 4th party member...well I use Varric because he offers a crit aura so the aoe madness is that more deadly. Few things in the game survive a double fire mine crit for 10k+ each. It's rare to find a full pack of mobs who are all fire resistant after all. You don't have to be an assassin. Tempest is probably stronger although (sounds) more boring (to me). And the reason I don't think having to manage your rogue is bad, hell, even good, because if anything, it makes it easier to roleplay, when you actually play like a rogue. I never liked cookie cutter strategies, like the one you mentioned. Even if I wasn't doing a completionist playthrough, doing the same thing for over 50 hours is boring. I never understood arcane warrior nightmare players in DA:O. They pick the hardest difficulty so you'd thin they want challenge, and then basically they cheese tehir way through it. They might as well play anything else on normal in a fun way. I read crazy things about fire flask, but you speak about thousand cuts like it was a basic ability, which is really misleading. Imagine someone specs for Tempest jur for this, then he can thousand cuts one foe in every 3rd fight. Why do you say that? Aside from the clunky controls and camera, of course. This Dragon Age has a very good chance to be the most successful one in the series, and rightfully so.

That's just wrong, if you use a controller the PC version shouldn't be worse than the other ones. Or am I missing something? And there's hope that the mouse + keyboard controls will get good soon. But I wouldn't bet it will be satisfying.

However, playing with XBOX controller shouldn't be different than playing the game on the XBOX...? I have no info what a "bad port" means. I always thought it's just the controls/camera (which is shit on consoles anyway).

PC controls are hardly unbearable, unless the only way you can be bothered to play the game is on nightmare with ff.

If that is OK with you, go for it. I hate console games and consider them all inferior to PC ones.

I got some nice crafting schemes by now, but somehow I cant build a masterpiece out of a blue-ish Level 3 crafting scheme...wtf? Is that how it is supposed to be??? Doesnt matter how often i try using a dragon's tooth with 40% chance of creating a masterpiece. It will never result in one! No bow, now armor, now blue-ish weapon will ever get a masterpiece with +10% stats

Only thing you can do is save before crafting a bunch of shit items with your mw materials, note down which one of them worked, then do it again, using that workable one for your actual item.
