Yeah I totally expected characters in DAI to pick shit up telekinetically, but no, those goddamn uncreative bastards at Bioware had to copy the bend-over-and-pick-shit-up mechanic. DISAPPOINTING.
thank you for only quoting the most useless part of my post. Quite an objective conversation!.

I laughed at that one too. Solar I don't know what to tell you except that it seems people disagree that the game is a rip off of the Witcher. I don't see it either. The whole "everyone thinks you're a bad guy but you can be a good guy" trope is overplayed, but not a direct ripoff of the Witcher. Almost every RPG starts out that way nowadays, which is a shame don't get me wrong. But in my 10 or so hours with the game, not once have I said, "this reminds me of The Witcher." The only similarity is that it is a third person high fantasy action RPG, that's pretty much it.
There are plenty of legitimate criticisms to level at the game, but IMO that's not one of them. And for what it's worth, I'm having a lot of fun and I think it will be better for DA:O fans than DA2 at least.

Ugh. It doesn't feel like dragon age origins at all to me. I know I listed miniscule changes they made like bending over to pick things up. HOWEVER, I think it provides great evidence of where I am getting at. Why did they have to change something so miniscule that wasn't a part of the past two games? It just seems bioware is trying to fit in with the other games. They are just rehashing the same formula other games use. This game is as bland as uncooked rice to me.

sounds to me like there are 2 major problems.
1. bad pc port/controls. 2. people (again) expecting a different game
not exactly unexpected. was mildly interested when reviews said its huge and open but now im back to just ignoring them. da:o was good (still overhyped imho) da2 was shit and a pure moneygrab and now the 3rd seems to be an entirely different game with the same name so sales are higher.
meh.

I hate pressing the V key like a mad man to find stuff, wtb a toggle button like DiabloIII plz

I really don't know what to do with this game... I'm an avid BG2, PS:T fan, liked DA:O a lot, DA2 not so much (though I would not go as far as to rate it 3/10 or something, I did play it through the end and somewhat enjoyed it, probably worth a 5 or 6/10 in my opinion).
I've watched as many YouTube video as I could find and so far, two things worry me: - Boring roleplay. Seems like you have no choice in this game but to do good things. Do quests, help people, all the time. All companions look like they're nice and shit. No way to go "fuck this world, I'm going to become the next dictator or something". Reviews say there are meaningful choices but I've seen so few of them so far... - Tedious combats. I'm a huge fan of tactical combat, never do a playthrough of BG2 without SCS installed and I'm gonna play in hard, with keyboard / mouse. But if the world is huge with tons of combat everywhere and controls are fucked up, in the long run, it's going to piss me off.
Maybe that's just a wrong feeling though... Worth giving it a try?

you are spot on. The game play is nothing like the past two games. I really think they keep varric around to give you the illusion you are still playing dragon age. They are even last and make many of the conversations in third person perspective so you don't even feel as absorbed in the game.

Gameplay is nice, combat is a bit closer to DAO than DA2 was (to me, DA2 was a travesty), while characters are still interesting and there's a lot to be done. I'm playing on nightmare and I've had a decent challenge (Some rifts can get really hard), nothing overpowering. My main gripe is with how clunky tactical view is on KB+M. Camera is rather annoying to control and counterintuitive, while it doesn't have enough zoom out to let you easily maneuver, for example, in game most rifts float in the air, so you can't click them on tactical view, you need to go back to 3rd person to do it, minor annoyances like that get in the way of enjoyment. This is, as usual, a consequence of thinking for consoles and not for all customers, but whatever, I expect someone will fix it with a mod.
So far, I'd put this right in the middle, much, much better than DA2, but significantly worse than DAO, and of course if compared to BG2 it just can't keep up, but it's still a fun and interesting game, it's just that BG2 and PS:T were extraordinary.
I'd say it's biggest pro is that there's just so much stuff to do. Really, SO DAMN MUCH, I mean the first area alone can take over 6-8 hours to complete. At the same time, much of that stuff is just filler, so at some points it feels a bit like an MMORPG, which shouldn't happen.
Overall, it's still the same "modern" Bioware RPG. You're a hero, you got a castle/speaceship/faction/kingdom, gather people to your cause and win, that skeleton is pretty much unmodified. And completely unrelated in any shape, way or form to the witcher games, they're just completely different, and whoever thinks they're significantly similar, hasn't played one of the games.

I have played both the games. The similarities I am discussing have mostly to do with design and aesthetics.

Don't trust the reviews is my advice, they have all been bought by EA.

Seriously, you can likely rely on Giant Bomb(though they don't have a review, but Matt Rory liked it) and a few other sites if you know them. I personally think the game is very good.
But...you might be bummed if you get it for PS3. Or you will be bummed when all you can find is a PS4 box.

Every single one? Put on your tinfoil hats boys! There isn't a single place to find information on this game that isn't tainted by EA!
I won't pretend that games journalism is honest, but you're taking it to laughable extremes here. Here is a review that hasn't been bought by EA: I liked DA:O quite a lot, I liked DA2 but much less so, I'm having a lot of fun with DA:I and think it is more like DA:O than DA2. There are some problems with the controls and the tactical camera, but if you can get around those issues there is a lot of content here. If people really aren't sure about it, they can wait for the price to come down or watch some lets plays or something. If you think lets plays can be biased, then I really don't know what to tell you.

Zasz being a fan of the past two games like myself, I am suprised that you are not as critical of the dialogue in inquisition. It has taken a huge step down, that I cannot ignore. What is your take on it?

I'm just saying, it's pointless to look at reviews (not talking about player reviews) when it comes to AAA games because the reviews are obviously bought.

Its true, the Lizard people that control EA and the entire video game industry want to sell us games, regardless of quality. Thats why they buy reviews and threaten the families of the reviewers who stand up to them. The only people we can really trust are users the review and Youtube E-celbs, who are immune to the lizard peoples mind control and make enough Youtube money to be immune to bribery.
Seriously folks, the Illuminati wants the reviewers to deceive you.

I haven't played DA:O in a couple of years, but I would agree that the dialogue here seems weaker. Fortunately for me, I suppose, dialogue has never topped my list in importance for non-text based RPGs so I can overlook or be less miffed by a decrease in quality. It does seem much better than DA2 though.

Do YouTube reviews count? IMO nothing beats actual gameplay footage, even if you think the voice behind it may be biased. You would have to do your own research on controls and some of the intangibles, but it is hard to make actual gameplay footage not be representative of the product.

Maybe that's just a wrong feeling though... Worth giving it a try? If you really must play it wait for fixes for PC version. Unless you like to play games with a controller, then you can buy it now.

Guys, this is obviously a paid EA representative trying to make critical thinkers and true revolutionaries like Animzor look stupid. His thousands of seemingly well-meaning posts on TL are simply a front, so that he can make the occasional post defending EA products when they launch.
Don't believe his lies.

I am playing on nightmare, the controls ARE REALLY CLUNKY. No, people aren't lying. The tactical mode is quite shitty because you can't really scroll far down (and lol at the "move this dot" console crap still in game even when using mouse/kb).
I can't say if the game is good or not, because with how clunky it feels, i might not play it much longer.
@Plansix Dude, yeah yeah, not everyone is out there to get you. But i haven't read a single PC review speaking about how fucking broken the game is with KB + Mouse. It isn't there.
For example
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/11/11/dragon-age-inquisition-review
The good and the bad
+Beautiful, massive world +Tons of content +True RPG depth +Strong combat – Weak plot
What the fucking what.
Edit - Also what happened to everybodies hair lol ?

There is a huge difference between “being bought” aka, being paid to lie to their readers, and not noticing a lack luster control scheme because maybe you didn't use it. I think the IGN review was done on the counsel version, if I remember correctly. A lot of the reviews were, which I will say is not great for PC fans that wanted to play with M&KB. The reviewers for Assassin's Creed 4 didn't talk about the amazing face removal bug, but thats because none of them encountered it.
And you’re right about the hair. It gets really weird looking if you turn down the shaders and filtering. Everyone looks like they just got out of Grease. I had to adjust my settings just to make sure I got rid of it.
