WCS America - Ro16 Group D Recap - Season 2
WCS America Ro16 concluded last night with TaeJa and viOLet advancing to the Ro8 and making it an all-Korean affair. MajOr, the last foreigner left in the tournament, played his heart out but came one game short of advancing. Dropping out in last place was Arthur, the typically cheesy Protoss who unexpectedly decided to play macro games against both TaeJa and MaJor but sadly finished with a 0-4 map score. Despite a valiant effort, the Spectre Protoss still has room for improvement in his standard play.
Last night was yet another walk in the park for Liquid.Taeja, who went a perfect 4-0 in his group. TaeJa was slightly thrown off by the fear of potential all-ins from Arthur but still won the series convincingly. Putting on a TvZ clinic against viOLet, TaeJa dominated the tempo of the games by pressuring viOLet and not allowing him to utilize his trademark aggression. viOLet battled hard but Taeja cruised his way into the quarterfinals with good splits in off-creep fights. So far, the Prince of Summer has looked untouchable, but he expressed concerns in his first place interview about possibly facing HyuN. These two could potentially meet in the semifinals.
The second place finisher was viOLet, who will be making his first ever WCS quarterfinal appearance on Saturday. Though he was crushed by Taeja, viOLet showed some phenomenal, diverse ZvT against MajOr. He mixed in standard builds with roach/hydra aggression and even looked sharp in the late to end game. For some reason, viOLet and MajOr together just make a perfect recipe for epic games. First, they started off the night with an intense 50min+, back and forth game on Overgrowth. Then they met again in the decider match and played the 4th longest televised game in HotS history that ended in curious fashion. If you missed today’s group and can’t wait till the quarterfinals, then definitely go back and check out these two games.
The quarterfinals of WCS America kicks off at 15:00 PDT on Saturday 5/7.

How dare you complain about losing your job, when you're more than happy to use MULES instead of hard working SCVs. Double standards! Still taht will be good to finally see some TvT in tournaments :D

Bomber seems to have the easiest path, as long as the law doesn't lay itself down. Taeja should be happy he's not in Polt's or Hyun's place.

DUDE, what the hell you saying? Bomber does not have the easiest path, he is going to face Alicia, the guy who knocked Bomber out last season in WCS AM Ro8
|
To me it looks like we could see three Terrans in the Ro4 (Bomber's not gonna make it against Alicia)

Taeja may not make it finals if he has to face Polt.
