HF check was so damn shady.

I like hte idea of the 4 competing factions each trying to catch the one in front of them making like a circle Mercury > Venus > Jupiter > Mars > Mercury so there was a possibility of joint Mercury/Jupiter wins and Venus/Mars wins correct?

Town win would have been difficult, I know that, which was also the reason why I stacked it with vets. Also as mentioned above I was counting on the scumteams disrupting and shooting each other. Maybe too much, but without trying to run the setup I would not know how it plays out, since there are too many possibilities
For PYP. LoL I ran best and worst case scenarios (with 60+ possible roles!) and we tried a practice game as well which sort of gave us an idea where things could go. With a game like this that's extremely swingy and where balance is very difficult I think it's kind of important to at least have some idea IMO.
It really sucks to have all that sword go down the drain dude, my sympathies. I hope people enjoyed it at least.

yes that was the idea behind it as well.

Problem is you have 4 mafia on day 1 who won't even be behaving like mafia because they're not a team
that makes the game unbelievably depressing for town to play

I fucked around because i couldn't find good lynches
because there weren't any fucking good lynches.

This game though the odds of having a perfect scum game where town is reduced super fast was really low. Was 17-6 still with 4 factions still up but at most 2 people in each faction and only 2 having KP. It would have been interesting to see the next night if 3+ kp came back and suddenly mercury was shooting again
Town could have used some alignment cop and maybe a jailer or something instead of just immune vets because if one of them got lynched and spilled the beans on their role or did was slam did it was worth it to try and just shoot thme and recruit outside.

Judging from your opinions, maybe it is for the best that this game ends in a trainwreck,
I do know that the setup was scumfavored. But also considering the speed of the actual recruitments as they happened I thought it would be fine. Also stacking town like mad with vets did not help that much I guess. Maybe more immune blues? The thing is if one of the blues actually stole a djinn from the scumteams, they would have been a massive asset to town. I mean they could have been unlimited vigs, or even protect the entirety of town for 1 KP. I just really wanted to try out the idea of having 4 recruiting factions trying to outsmart each other and hunting each other.
Anyway, Lessons learned: Do not try to host another themed large game, I have funny and crazy ideas which just end in imba imba imba. Recruitment roles are a pain in the ass to balance and I should probably stay away from them as far as possible
I do hope the game was still enjoyable to most of you.

I know how you feel :/
Although I guess thrawn would have been a decent lynch (useless and semi-scummy + actually scum).

thrawn and kush got "passes" for bad reasons imo.
Koshi playaed pretty well so did HF for scum everyone else was just town though Although Tamburini could have fooled me.

I dont necessarily understand the spreadsheet, so not sure who all was scum...
And what was with the whole "touched by magic" stuff? riotky's role is actually really cool if someone is touched by maigc it's a bit complicated but anyone that isn't is conrfirmed vanilla town which would make it powerful. On the other hand recruiter mechanics fuck it up, but hey if he announces someone it's likely that multiple factions would target them and cancel out
Lol, I made that crap up. I was VT, and I had a growing scum read on bunnies, wanted to reaction test her. I also had a doctor read on someone and wanted to eat a bullet for them.

i dunno maybe if you had a faction that could win with town, 1 actual scum faction that couldn't recruit and a 3p faction it might have gone better and some town roles

Conversion mechanics just... Basically snowball too much in some direction. And they complicate scumhunting so, so much.

that makes the game unbelievably depressing for town to play I guess this is my overall problem with the game. D1literally is worthless for the town. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and it made me remember how much I enjoy mafia, however I'm glad I died or it would have got really frustrating really fast.

it was only meh because people couldn't properly find scum if there weren't any scum so i think an non-recruit scum faction might balance things up a lot more
otherwise i enjoyed being a faction

Who did you talk to on the balance team about this game? I think recruitment was one of those things I was told to avoid, though since your entire game revolved around it I guess that wasn't really an option. Don't give up hosting just because of this dude. Your ideas definitely have potential. We need to have giant crazy ass themed games to be an option somehow, right? (and I'm sure as he'll not hosting another lol. and neither is GM

Also gah I knew HF was scrum from the way he reacted, I just let BH's asshattery distract me.
