Now the Dota problem, The game is so old already that the top of the scene is made up of veteran players and people like me who started seriously with Dota 2 are 5-6 years behind the curve. This is my main problem right now, I can play League and ladder and feel like I am competing on some level and not be massively behind the curve (especially due to the nature of the game). I feel like I would have to improve so much faster than possible to keep up with top level people and the scene is already very full. League, while lacking cups and in houses, has what seems like a decent competition in the diamond bracket as well as the fact that it's growth is getting hard to ignore.
Since I enjoy both games (albeit Dota more) I don't have a good way of deciding on that, because Leagues ladder keeps me playing.
So what are my options, for the most part I find Dota 2 a more well rounded fun game but I also enjoy League and have more friends who play it. Am I right in my assumption that I am way to far behind the curve in Dota to ever play in things like NEL and actually do good etc?
A lot of my assumptions are based on ignorance and would greatly appreciate being informed on the likelihood of my assumptions.
I will continue to play both but If I don't focus on one I won't improve at either nearly fast enough to be competitive ever.
NOTE: Competitive doesn't mean pro, it simply means competing at a non pub level i.e diamond bracket/NEL level.
