So I've noticed that in general, the vast majority of users on this forum detest Asian music with a passion (with rare exceptions like X-Japan, etc).
As an avid Asian music listener (Korean music since 1997, Japanese since 2002, and most recently Chinese) I intend to change people's perspectives, by uploading sampler tracks
Keep in mind that I listen to a WIDE variety of music (pop, rock, rap, ballad, techno, electronica, etc), so don't disregard all of the songs based off of the first one you hear. Each upload with contain 3 songs.
Enjoy!
Songs: F.I.R - Revolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.i.r Chinese band, very interesting sound. This song is haunting, yet catchy. The lead vocalist is female.
MC the MAX - RETURNS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MC_The_Max Atypical of this band, they recently released a single with a definite rock edge as opposed to their typical rock-ballad. I haven't heard anyone say negative things about it so far.
Clazziquai - Cry Out Loud http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clazziquai This is probably the song that the least people will like, but I find this kind of music enjoyable to listen to at night time in my dorm.
i listen to Galneryus, X Japan....oh, and me and my buddy were dancing and singing drunk to that Korean pop star Rain @ a Korean Karaoke...Honestly..apparently the funniest thing in the world for koreans is listening to white guys singing Rain.
Maybe its like philipino karoke bars with the terrible pronounciation
I used to listen to a lot of Korean music back in the day but they really don't make them like they used to. They're still stuck in the boyband phase and while I have nothing against that, it's really the same generic beats over and over again. The post-Brown Eyes wave of popular ballad songs was very refreshing and gave me something to look forward to in korean music as I got older, but even that's being recycled over and over (think of all the copy cat singers/groups since SG WannaBe's induction). I don't listen to much Korean music anymore.
I'm more into assorted japanese and chinese music now. Namely Jay Chou, Mayday, HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR, m-flo, etc.
Since i don't know Japanese or Korean it makes it harder for me to like the Asian artists and group (knowing the lyrics is important to me )
However there are a few that i really like.
Electric Eel Shock rock/metal with English lyrics, they are cool as hell, scream for me is probably my favorite track.
Yuki Pop i believe, i have no idea what she's singing except for the occasional english thrown in from time to time, i just love her voice.
Susumu Hirasawa this is one of my favorite artists overall, Calm rock music with fantastic guitars, perfect when you want to relax, ユーラシア21℃ (don't know what it means or if it's the real name) is probably my absolute favorite, one of the best songs i've ever heard.
Also i used to listen to a rock/punk band from Korea a couple of years ago, but i lost all their music in a HDD crash and now i can't remember what they're called =/
