Wolfling humans and their barely-uplifed Neo-Dolphin clients, only somewhat equipped to deal with the powerful Galactics, were the first to find the derelict fleet. If only Creideiki hadn't called Earth, if only their communications hadn't been intercepted. The psicast from Earth, from the Terragens Council, told the Captain the gravity of the situation. "Go into hiding. Await orders. Do not reply." The natural next step was to jump to Morgran, where the transfer point could get them out of the sector, could find the Streaker a better hiding spot. They almost burned out their probability coils with the high-speed jump there. And, of course, the Galactics were waiting. Under different circumstances, the Streaker would have been captured, or more probably destroyed. But as the Galactics turned on each other, battling for the right to capture their prize, Creideiki made a snap call, the kind of intuition and independence he has been born and bred for. Now he had made another call, one that could save his ship, or doom her. A team was assembled to scout for the raw materials needed to repair the Streaker.
