I'll keep it short. Over spring break by friend decided to play pokemon online while he was at my house. Naturally i was like "no ur doing that wrong that's a bad decision do this instead" and i won him a battle, rebuilt his team, and won him almost all the battles i didn't miss a predict on.
And now I'm hooked again.
I find it ironic that the decision of going back to pokemon for my competitive fill (though i cant comment on my commitment to it) has me going back to something with the abbreviation bw. halo 4 isn't really all that fun, i don't really enjoy starcraft anymore (watching or playing, which is why you haven't seen me around much), and i was never very competitive to begin with.
sadyl, pokemon online's servers is nothing like showdown. I do prefer PO's interface but the level of skill is way different. It's really only been a few games so i'm only at about 1300 on showdown but hopefully i can spread it to my friends in my res hall and we can all play together. all the months spent teambuilding are really paying off, even though my team is a little weak. i'll post it anyway.
pretty much, does anyone here play? most of the friends i made before (I played a lot at the start of gen 4 till halfway through platinum, after the garchomp ban and the heavy flygon/salamence/dnight usage started spiking up) don't play anymore and we've all kinda moved on.
we can talk about it and stuff.
to be honest i kinda just wanted a birthday thread.
here's the team. i dont really want an RMT cause it's something we came up with in the car going to grab food, but i need to reevaluate this whole leading thing cause you can apparently pick your lead, and also get some SR in there.
also there's a kid cudi concert tomorrow and i'm quite excited.
have a good day ^_^

Oh awesome, more Pokemon players :D Happy Birthday person I don't know, for one. Yeah, that team would get crushed in the BW meta, you would get outstalled by defensive weather, outmuscled by offensive weather and outlasted by bulky offense. Yeah, OU kinda sucks right now.
|
HB Fashion Savior . Also, how does building a pokemon team work? I've never done competitive, just dicked around ingame.
|
I quite like Pokemoning as well. What I dont like is whenever I stop playing for a while and then start again, there's like 100 new Pokemen I've never heard of.
|
Happy birthday, hope you had a great day ^_^
Coincidentally, I've also been interested into returning back to PO, and I was fairly good at it too. Maybe once X and Y come, the metagame will change for the better.
|
that is a very well-rounded team. I cannot find anything wrong with it haha

Happy birthday dude, hope it was great ^^
Cool to see you going back to PO haha, I remember you taking about being a huge competitive Pokémon beast :D

I think it relies too much on prediction. I've beaten some questionably played weather but i've also straight up just lost lol. Ill probably rebuild with weather in a few days though.
I'll make a thread in sports and games about it for discussion later today.

you pick a theme really. my team is based on hyper offense - the only thing that doesn't attack is vaporeon because i needed the role. for my team, the plan is to just continuously deal damage all the time, and set up (agility and dragon dance) when possible. instead of switching into "hard" counters, i have a lot of type immunities (dragonite, thunderus, and latias have ground immunity, scizor has poison, thunderus electric, vaporeon water, and heatran fire) and good resists (dragons and steels are good defensive types) and i have to out predict my opponent. the thing is that it requires a fair amount of game knowledge and straight up luck
for example if i have heatran out against an enemy dragonite, i'm much faster and i have hidden power ice to threaten for an ohko. but he knows i have it because most heatran carry and, and he wouldn't risk losing his dragonite. so i'd predict that he would switch out into something with an ice resistance. the thing is, he can predict that too and stay in.
super mindgames

You should also look for more effecient EV spreads than just 252/252 depending on what you look to achieve.
Good luck with it all.
|
most of them are the standard spreads. I dont know enough about the meta to really build for certain speed tiers, and nothing's super bulky enough for specific defensive spreads to avoid oh/2hkos.. dunno yet.
if anyone wants to theorymon with me sometime though when i build a new team

you didn't really pay close attention then
some feedback on your team:
first of all I think Vaporeon on a non rain team is pretty bad to be honest. What is also a very apparent weakness of your team is the lack of entry hazards and a spinner. this is probably the biggest weakness considering you rely heavily on dragonite/thundurus-t who have a stealth rock weakness. you also don't have a pokemon that can prevent a sweeper from setting up on you. I would suggest giving taunt to one of your pokemon. it helps against defensive pokemon aswell and can be a good lead vs Baton pass teams that can catch you offguard very easily even if you're the better player.
other than that I would also replace latias with latios if you play it with specs.

someone wanna make an irc channel or something so we can play some pokemon
|
I lost my cartridge with all my competitive mons. Feels horrible man. When X&Y comes out i plan to get back into it, so an IRC would be awesome.
