Also, Mark of the Ninja up for vote to be 50% off as community choice if it wins AC2 is the only good one of the franchise. If you played AC2 you can ignore every other AC Game. Add AC2: Brotherhood imo. After Brotherhood they got worse by a big margin. I still enjoyed Revelations and 3 but 2 and Brotherhood are miles ahead. For the story you might want to play AC1 as well. It's probably supercheap anyway. The assassin tombs or whatever they were called are just not there anymore in brotherhood, revelations. Some of them were pretty hard - compared to the rest of the franchise.
The tomb raids or dungeon runs are still in Brotherhood when you search for the decipher pages. There is one in Revelations, which is marked by a Templars symbol on the map.

Yes, but they are just way too easy compared to AC2. In AC2 some of them were pretty good and I've fallen to my death alot there. In Brotherhood is was just a walkthrough with mostly no climbing-challenges at all. AC2 was the only solid game in this franchise for me.

Supposing AC2 comes on sale again - is it worth playing without a controller?
Considering the argument over Darksiders2 in this regard I know it's a volatile question, but... still.

Depends on your preference. I played the games both on my PS3 and on my PC. Using the keyboard and mouse was fine, but playing on a controller did make it easier and more fluid. It just comes down to which one you are more comfortable with.

I played it with Mouse/Keyboard no Problem. I tried it to play it with a XBOX Controller but it was terrible to play it with a controller, so no need of that.

I've enjoyed every AC game immensely from AC 2 and it has one of the greatest video game stories ever. The one franchise that I think is the most overrated is half life. I played half life 2 and that was a lonely boring ass world with almost no story at all. It was very disappointing to play after all the hype and to this day I cannot understand why it gets so much praise especially for story since its story is paper thing, at least when playing the game. Maybe there's stuff outside the game to elaborate on the story, but playing it there was as much story as borderlands 1 almost.
Because you didn't play it when shooters used to be just first person platform games. It was the first to put some story and an interesting background to your pewpew.

You need to remember it came out in 2004, and compare it to what was out then. It's still a solid game, I love the chapter with the crazy priest to this day.

Am I the only person who had serious issues with how sluggish combat and movement in the AC games feels? I played the Arkham games first, and both felt so much more fluid than AC2 and AC:B that I couldn't even stand finishing them.

HL is one of the best games of all time and furtherso because of it's engine and mods. AC is just some generic repetitive game that is neither difficult nor attention retaining.

Actually so does the Indie Pack... which one is better? I still have extras of the THQ humble bundle, lemme know if you want it Darksiders, Red Faction: Armageddon, Metro 2033, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, and Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor. Titan Quest, Red Faction: Armageddon Path to War DLC, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Teamsolid is the best. Thanks for the bundle.

I'm with all 3 of you, a bit. Half Life as a game is good but quite overrated. The engine and the mods do make it really great. The Assassin's Creed games are all basically the same thing and it feels pretty generic, repetitive and uninspired to me. Not exactly a very interesting franchise in my opinion. To each his own, I suppose.

What is FTL? Is it like Simcity?
|
Just bought (finally) Skyrim on Green Man Gaming. 33% off the 49.99€ original price plus the 30% discount from the voucher for 23.45€. I think my buying 'spree' is done for this season.
By the way: since this year we are seeing more online game's stores besides Steam (who had the best sale seasons of all the net to date) give good prices, we could broad this thread to ALL of them. A good sale is a good sale, right?
What do you guys think about it?

On December 28 2012 09:05 Sufficiency wrote: What is FTL? Is it like Simcity?
No.
It is basically a roguelike Spaceship simulator.
You can manage what your crew does, repairing stuff, putting out fires, commanding systems, etc...You can also manage your ships weaponry to take out other ships. You jump from system to system, where you have to deal with varying events which involve fighting other ships, or responding in certain ways. If you have some items or specific crew, you get different options to choose from in the events. There is a thread about this game somewhere on this forum, and various videos about it on youtube if you want to take a look. It is a lot more about the management of the ship, and deciding what to do then anything else, you don't actually have to shoot at dodging stuff or fly daring escape maneuvers yourself, you just tell your crew to do it.
It is a lot of fun, but i think a certain interest in scifi is necessary. If you like stuff like Star Trek, you should definitively have a closer look.

Isn't this how we handle it in this thread for some time now? If someone notices a good sale somewhere, he posts in this thread. I assume a mod could rename it to better reflect on this, but the functionality has already shifted.
