GFWL sucks but it's really not that big of a deal to set it up and then be done with it. Demon's and Dark Souls have no business being modern day games. They feel like something that should have came out back when game designers cared about making great games instead of money making schemes. In any case there is a reason practically everyone that plays it raves about how it's one of the greatest games ever made. I'm not sure why you would ever want to pass something like that up but that's up to you.

It's on sale for half price, and the original price had already been reduced for the pc release even with all the additional content. How is it expensive? And gfwl isn't really additional drm, even if it is sometimes annoying to work with.

Little spoiled I guess, but it's a rare circumstance (like Skyrim or SC2) where I'd pay more than that. And sorry, I don't know if gfwl is technically drm. But I've stayed away from games that require extra programs for no reason so far, I don't need that stuff on my computer. Again, unless something is must-play-now-omg like skyrim, I won't die from the anticipation. I'll enjoy it when the time is right.

Dark Souls, highly regarded savior of modern day games, not-a-must-play. Skyrim, prettier version of Oblivion with slightly improved combat but worse writing, must-play. Interesting taste you got there. (both are must plays imo, Dark Souls is just the better game overall)

After voting it during the greenlight and then buying it once released I would say don't buy it. If you looked at those images of the game they don't give a good example. The game has a really bad UI and in general it needs fixing in many places. It feels more like a alpha version of the game and I'm still waiting for the first patch to come. You should try the demo and see if you like it. If you do like it and you can overcome the bad UI and tutorials that leave you scratching your head afterwards. Then pick it up for that price.

Damn it, thanks a lot man, didn't realize there is a demo available.

But if we can get more people to praise it Ill prolly just buy it on the spot. anno is a game where you try to accumulate certain resources in order to grow your city. You do this buy building production chains, expanding to other islands that have the resources you seek, trading, deepsea excavation etc. The main point of this game is aquiring the products you want to grow bigger, its not a city builder like caesar or simcity. The game is very polished and very well done, one of the best annos. Especially the two ways to play it is a nice touch. You can play as the quick and dirty Tycoons or the Greenpeace guys, who have different mechanics. And then there is the 3rd science faction that is not self sustaining, but needed to get high-end stuff. They also have a special event with a 3 scenario mini campaign every month or so. The only sad thing is that they made the designdecision to not include real AI players, the only thing they added are NPCs that kinda live by their own rules and make life easier or difficult that way. But again, its not a real city builder, this is about resources. If you dont like it, you will be getting frustrated by setting up hundreds of productionbuildings for a medium sized city. (also, when people buy it, the whole campaign is basically a tutorial, dont judge the game on it.)

This game left THE biggest impression on me out of anything I played this year. It is very fast paced, great and fluent controls and awesome soundtrack. On the other hand it's not very long, technically not very solid and some parts of it are really annoying and tedious. Not a typcial GOTY contender, but damn, if there is one game I remember playing this yearm it's this one.

They have Securom, GFWL and steam drm on top like a nice cherry on a sundae, if you can get past that then get them since they are wonderful

Again, unless something is must-play-now-omg like skyrim, I won't die from the anticipation. I'll enjoy it when the time is right. I usually like to stay in that price range myself since I'm a cheap bastard, but it's certainly not like steam has no more expensive games, especially recent games don't hit those prices. Games for Windows Live (gfwl) is about as much an extra program as steam itself is, and it's not something you actually install, it just pops up a little login box(which can save your password and log in automatically) when you boot up the game and that's it. It's not an extra program, it's coded into the game for it to connect to the live network, it's just xbox live for computers(and actually allows cross-platform with xbox360 too). Though I have used it to chat with people in dark souls once or twice (which is basically the same as bringing up the steam overlay and chatting with someone there). Sometimes it gives some people issues, some never have any issues with it. Definitely not a perfect system, but it generally works ok enough. Skyrim also hasn't got anything on Dark Souls I'd say DS is very worth it even at standard price (and I actually really liked Skyrim).

Which also means that you need a credit card for them, which i for example don't have. Do you get a steam code with that offer? In that case you might be interested in trading it. I for example would offer the 2 copies of Chivalry i have left for one copy of Dark Souls. Regarding the Batman games, get them. They are very, very good. The DRM is absurdly annoying, but the games themselves are kind of worth it, unless you really hate DRM. If you are only annoyed by it, it is worth it.
