Some can be made automatic, while others would need to be awarded via admin or some kind of achievement mod. Perhaps keep a counter next to your post count with a new tab in your profile listing the achievements you currently have. Could even include special prizes for the more constructive or helpful achievements in the form of an unlockable portrait or some other kind of small little distinguishable icon. This sounds awful. Your posting and behavior should earn you respect by themselves. Imagine the easy achievements like make and update a livereport thread, write a girl/good blog or *getting your name changed*. An achievement system integrated integrated into the site would invite spam and/or elitism(I got featured in ponytales, noob), depending on whether the achievements are easy or "rare". Also it would put a number on you which new people might mistake for your level of contribution. Let it stay a fun little thread, nothing more.

People do all of that already based off of post count and date joined. The reward idea was meant to be only applied to those achievements which are genuinely constructive. That inherent subjectivity means just because you updated a live report thread once doesn't me you get the achievement, it would be given to those who repeatedly help out. I don't even mind if you got rid of the post count or simple achievements. But I do think a little carrot at the end of a stick to get more community members involved is not the worst idea in the world. It would be more productive and indicative of meaningful participation and contribution than post counts. I can't speak from experience, but I suspect those individuals who are awarded the quality poster star give a little extra thought each time they post and maybe even contribute just a little bit more then if they were not recognized for their input.

Not sure whether I had anything in pony tales. Suspect I might, but don't know what counts as a feature; didn't count that one either way. 5 months to 10 years and becoming an ancient xel'naga.

Never reported anyone, by the way, not sure why - I often see posts that deserve to be reported, but... just don't wanna do it.

edit: Couldn't help but laugh at Megaliskuus suggestion to award points for the most bans because "not many people have done that". That's right, gotta get them achievement points for being assholes! Also, we need to make a cool kids club for all Ancient Xel Nagas.

Yeah no. With the somewhat recent influx of more broad topics I don´t value a high post count by itself. There has already been a similar blog dedicated to how to inflate your post count without technically breaking spam rules. That guide does not even include TL Mafia which easily can get you a dozen posts per day. There are 3 things that make me respect someone here: Good content in posts Have a Banhammer/other special icon Been around before 2010 In that order. But that´s just me. Feel free value people for their awesome postcounts

Yes, you have to check it yourself / ask a mod maybe to check if you have been warned in the last year (if you are not sure). On the point of having achievements for most posts and things like that: The idea of these achievements is, that you earn and keep them. Milestones you reach. If you have achievements for "most posts" or something like this, you have the possibility to lose them. Also, it should be, at least theoretically, possible to get every achievement. For example, someone suggested to make a achievement for posting in the forums before SC2 beta was out. This is something I would not like to implement, as it's excludes people from some of the achievements, and therefore maybe leads to losing interest to participate. This would contradict the idea of this thread. StarCraft II has achievements called "Feats of Strength" which don't award points, maybe it would be possible to add some stuff, that is not achieveable anymore. I'll think about that.

Points: 150 Personal Showcase: That was pretty fun, though I'd suggest having achievements in there for TL's map making competitions. Those melee map makers work pretty hard. And I feel there should be extra points for having flamewheel send GMarshal into meltdown mode for your one and only game of TL Mafia.
