He had to commit, it's the entire point of the fast upgrade build. What, you want him to to fall back and go into the late game and throw away his only advantage which is being up in upgrades?
Would've been better than dumping so many resources into a failed attack. There might've been a better timing if he had 20-30 supply more and Slivko was in transition to BL rather than still waiting for his Great Spire
slivko made this look closer then it was. He could have had half his broodlords to defend his buildings while his other half goes and kills everything. 7 stalkers won't kill 6-7 broods xD
Grubby spawns top right, Slivko bottom left. Pretty standard openers until Grubby throws down a second forge and twighlight, which Hasuobs predicted in the pre-match commentary. Grubby takes his third after his robo is up while Slivko takes a macro hatch and completes his infestation pit. Grubby gets charge (also predicted by Hasuobs) and a templar archives and then pushes out with too small of an army which Slivko has total vision of. Infestors buy time for 20 roaches to come out and secure a 60 supply lead and things look grim for Grubby. Grubby attempts a secondary attack when blink finishes but Slivko crushes it handily and by then the greater spire was up, as was Grubby's time in this game... Except I say that and start to eat my words as Grubby gets some nice warp prism harass and goes for a base race.
Supplies drop to about 100 supply each as Grubby tries to get a mothership but that gets shut down while in production twice. Grubby tenaciously stays in this game and makes a solid effort out of it, eventually taking Slivko down to just one extractor left which he kills JUST after Slivko has started another extractor and a hatchery. Grubby gets the extractor but doesn't have firepower to take down the hatchery which is under the watchful eyes of Slivko's broodlords and as the last of his units fall, Grubby GGs.
Ugh, too many tense changes on my part there and sloppy recap. Think I'll just watch the rest of the matches.

If he had thought ahead a little he could have walked some spines with his army and not even needed to split his army.

Yeah. You could call it a base race, base trade, or base trade scenario.

Aww, I could add 'em all to the op!
Alright. Well I'll give it another shot. Better this time hopefully.
i wonder if grubby will do the fake third base with gateways at the third entrance and go for a timing attack... didnt work last time he tried it though
