Hello
Since I didn't really use my playstation 2 a lot before the release of the next gen consoles. I figured I'd go back and play the old gems from that era. And since I am an RPG fan I was of course on the look out for some good RPG's. That's when it hit me the PS2 has no non turn based RPGs that are anything to speak of, or do they in fact exist and it's just me that's blind? I mean final fantasy X is a good game I don't think JRPG's suck it's just that they aren't fun. The story is the only thing that's interesting about them. And to make it clear god of war is not an RPG I know that's a given but yeah just telling you in advance so you don't suggest that. So yeah I'm just curious are there any PS2 RPG's that are worth getting if you hate the turn based stuff.
edit: Adventure games suggestions are also something that I am interested in hearing about, I know zelda is a bad example to use for playstation games but something that has some common elements like character progression an epic quest (and puzzles).

FFXII and Shadow of the Colossus though the ladder isn't that RPG'esque

Yeah thinking of getting Shadow of the colossus since I do enjoy adventure games as well but yeah it's kinda expensive and hard to get a hold of at least in Sweden on the look out for it though. Will definitely get it if I can find a seller with a reasonable price.

.Hack is a pretty amazing series just super long. If you have never played its basically a fake MMO and you have to save their mmo world because people who get killed by a certain attack get turned into a coma (not sure if remembering anime or game).

I loved Dark Cloud 2 when it came out, there is a lot of customization depth and fun side stuff to do. You dungeon dive, build towns, take pictures to unlock craftable stuff, completely customize your own combat robot, play this crazy golf like minigame, and probably other stuff that I've forgotten. The combat itself wasn't anything spectacular but it was not turn based so it fits your needs. If you can get past the somewhat kiddy artstyle I think the cel shaded graphics hold up really well.
I haven't played Tales of the Abyss, but I know the Tales of games have good real time combat.
I'm sure there's others but as you say most of my favorite ps2 rpgs are turn based.
As for zelda-like adventure games, Okami is basically exactly that, with an amazing artstyle and it's made by Hideki Kamiya who imo can do no wrong. Only problem with Okami is that it's a little too long.

armored core, not quite rpgs but def not turn based and a lot of fun

Dark Cloud 2, I liked it more than Kingdom Hearts, but the story was a bit immature.

Go figure.
