It was tough to capture the images of so many people's lives(homes, businesses, etc..) going up in smoke. I actually was almost a victim of one of those fires while doing my job and I can tell you it's terrifying to be engulfed in smoke and flames. I barley made it out alive as smoke poured into the AC vents and flames warped the paint on my News truck. My thoughts and prayers go out to those in Colorado, be safe.

But where I am it's just sort of life as usual. The birds are singing, my puppy is chewing on everything. My neighborhood is going on like normal. My wife is going to work in a bit, and since we're sort of downhill from more houses you can't even see anything except for a few clouds (which are smoke, but you have to remind yourself.) You can see it, smell it. It's everywhere. But life goes on, and occasionally you have to remind yourself that there's a fire at all. Then you stop, because you realize the sort of carnage and you know the places its affecting so well that you can picture it. And then you have to realize there's literally nothing you can do, and so life continues for a while until you realize it's there again. This all said, I'm not worried. Sad that so many people have lost their homes and are living in shelters. But not worried; I'm sure we'll all be fine and life will go on.

It's the people and property that are the concern and if not for that I'm sure we would let most of these fires simply run their course.
