I think we are all missing Ron Paul, I mean no one talks about him in the media (because they are told not to would be my general thought) but he's gaining heat ... Like I mean really gaining heat, "embarassing" is what was stated in the video by how much he actually has backing him.
Shit doublecheck this shit, I actually had exams past month... He's still running right? He was ripping shit.
Looks like he is kinda on the fence, support still is growing though according to various sources I'm reading now.
So his goal is to make an impact leaving room for Rand Paul : D (or so it seems) this should be a rocking time in Tampa
The election is between Obama and Romney, any vote for any other party is just a wasted vote.
Unless you live in a swing state it's a wasted vote anyway. What a great "democracy."
edit: and what do you recommend doing when neither of them represents your interests?
You vote for the lesser of the evils in order to buy you time to change public opinion and for a better candidate to appears. In this case it's Romney because, as has been said various times, he is a wishy washy candidate with no clear agenda, while Obama is full on Fascist. Both of their end games are the same... Fascism, but Romney will get us there much slower; slow enough that I hope it buys time for a good candidate with public support to emerge.
Here's a brief clip expressing this sentiment, not very full of content but still illustrates the point in a very simplified way. + Show Spoiler +

It's ok. He clearly thinks fascist just means "bad person." It's synonymous with nazi, communist, and intellectual, which are all the same thing.

Even if we just 'played' along, I dont' see how Romney's plan of rolling back social services, tax breaks and entitlements that have existed since the 80's, while cutting taxes for people that make over $250,000 a year, AND increasing defense spending, wouldn't put the US further in the hole.

It's a real pitty that people throw around words like fascist and socialist. I guess there are people who just don't have a clue what those words mean. And there are people who just want to stirr up dust.
People who call Obama a socialist are imo pretty ignorant. Obama and Democrats are right wing compared to Europe. And there isn't a socialist country in Europe. Well maybe Sweden... And calling people fascist is just plain dumb.

Military budget is only 680 billion a year, compared to the entire budget it is not a big deal and it is a vital function of the government. I would like to see it go down however, and no administration today is smart enough to figure out how to do it(not that there aren't proper ways to do it)
People who have money invest, take it away and they won't and/or can't invest. Lowering taxes for all is best. Starting by lowering taxes for the rich is a good start since they already pay more. They also have the opportunity and know-how to invest, meaning create jobs.
Social services are destructive and unnecessary. Destructive for those who the money is taken away from and for the ones receiving it. Unnecessary because if everyone were really in need of "social services" we would never have left the cave, where there were none. In-fact if people were just less cowardly to learn and go out and apply that knowledge, the world would be a better place. Take it from a guy who's been there (including myself, and a lot of my friend and family who grew up poor, and under the poverty line by American standards).

Create jobs doing what? Consumer trash and zynga games?
Before you create jobs you have to manufacture some demand, and that's the problem.

...that's 24% of the budget. That is not an insignificant amount by any stretch of the imagination. That's more spending than any other individual expense.
I love the video. I rarely see the doomsday economists really show just how whacked out they are. 100 trillion? Where the hell did he get that number from? lol
The idea that these programs are completely dried up and unable to funded is grossly exaggerated all the time. Yes, they seem to need some minor reforms in order keep afloat, but there's nothing dire about them at all, and people who have actually looked into the finances have confirmed that.

And yes, I bet we could reduce that to half without losing integrity to defense. But that would require proper defense policy that you won't see by any mainstream candidates. One way to start would be to stop sending extortion money to north korea, iran and other countries. Stop nation building like was tried in Iraq. Then you could reduce the amount of soldiers... That in no way is complete but I hope the idea stands out.
Now spending under Bush increased dramatically, but that was in part due to the so called "war" However, are we still at war? Then what is the reason for Obama's increase in spending of roughly 1 trillion more per year than Bush? That's no small figure.
I tried to use wolframs but I am not that familiar with it. If you scroll down to the second graph, expenditures here you see from 1947 until today(unfortunately there's no date in wolfram for before that). Slowly increasing. I could not figure out how to compare it to population growth. As in population has been growing at roughly 1.5% per year, how about the budget? And where are the biggest increase? Despite expenditures, in the early 1900's there were even surpluses..
Franky id want Romney to win. The only way to get rid of the cancerous political system the US has today is for it to crash and burn to the ground and no one is going to do that faster then Republicans.
I just used this. I don't know why there's such a discrepency.
Well now you're talking about trying to effectively reduce the defense department. I don't know why you were saying it wasn't a big deal and then turn around and give a bunch of suggestions on how to reduce it. I'm all for that, man. You may underestimate how difficult that is, considering we already have fierce competition between government contractors to get the best price, and oversight committees to avoid Conflicts of Interest. But yea, changing our foreign policy would put less pressure on our defense budget.

Yeah you're right. How does he get these crazy figures? 24% is outrageous. But 18% of your total budget is nothing at all - certainly not something that affects anything else. And you definitely have to get rid of social services. Massive waste.

Our history classes are full of endorsed documentaries while the teacher does crossword puzzles or plots how to keep the hottie in seat 3 over for dentention.
Won't be Fascism. Corpratocracy possibly, or since financial titans run the show the name might be aptly and ironically be. Bankruptocracy.
Here's an interest article about how the Obama administration "squandered" a chance for peace in Afghanistan due to internal administration infighting.
For what it's worth, I don't accept the premise that true peace was ever available. The best that we were ever going to get without outright military victory would be a Vietnam-style withdrawal that resulted in the Taliban taking over again anyway.

This. People's political memories are super short term, which is why you see so many peaks and valleys that normalize after a couple of weeks. Better to have that "bump" now than in october.
I've mentioned this before "The Broken Window Fallacy" which Obama and Krugman are known to commit on a regular basis. But despite it's simple nature, many people still fail to grasp it. Here is a brief video, although kind shitty, still accurate and highlights the key points. If you can sit through 3.5 minutes of it then you may see what is wrong with Obamanomics. If not, and you agree with Obamanomics, then you can thank the radical islamists for destroying the world trade centers and spurring economic activity. Maybe even ask them to come back and blow up some more stuff. In fact, might as well just do it yourself by burning down your house.

But the points are still valid. It's like one of those videos made for public/government schools that I used to have to sit through. That doesn't negate the points it making however, that's just presentation.
