Yep, keeps things interesting.

Question: Will playing Starcraft over WiFi cause lag?
Since I started playing on my lappy, a lot of my clicks aren't registering, and I can actually drag a box and then get my pointer back to where I started the box before the box draws. It's really frustrating, and I'm getting owned by everyone on the ladder.
I have all my settings as low as I can get them and have adjusted the resolution to 1280x720. I may try dialing it down some more. The only other thing I can think of is the polling rate on my mouse, which is USB since there are not PS/2 connectors on my laptop.
-Loki.
Edit: Added third paragraph.

yeah, it can, if youre wifi signal isnt strong. but that doesnt -sound- like lag, seems like its clients side, not server side, maybe due to an underpowered machine. i would guess youre on the lowest graphics settings already, so that suggestion is out

Edit: Added third paragraph. Have you tried playing with the ethernet cable connected to your laptop?

Edit: Added third paragraph. I play on a lappy over wifi on high settings just fine. So I would have to agree with errant

Yeah I too play on a laptop over wifi.

Hey, GnR Tricky, what's with your profile? It says you've played 0 league games, never ranked lol. Did I get the right account?
|
Okay, fixed. I had to turn off everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, including sound, mouse, scroll speed, and basically anything that can affect performance in any way. I am now only a smidge quicker than the boxes, so little as to be unnoticeable unless I'm looking for it. But, god, did that suck. I was getting beaten by bronzes, and earlier this week I was matching golds. Egad.
Game is now playable! Yay! Incidentally, my lappy sits right next to the router, so signal strength is only attenuated by about 12 inches. -Loki

No, lol, tricky's account is active. The account info in the OP is correct, not sure what happened.

Could be other programs open that is eating cpu and slowing it down. Like things on your minibar or processes running you can't see. Possibly even a virus running in the background eating up ram and whatnot.
