Don't get me wrong most everything else is absolutely spot on, but one can only play a magic-user so much.

Swinging swords without some kind of lock-on to guide them mid-air or the ability to modify direction mid-swing just makes each hit feel incredibly unsatisfying when you have to rely on a visually unappealing hit box system. I feel like combat is almost an unbearable weakness in this game. It's more about wanting the swing to seem more in synch with the motion of the character, and both hits and misses being more satisfying. They do make use of the semi-directional attacks, but when I use a standard one handed swing to the right, and the enemy to my left is damaged it does wonders to destroy my suspension of disbelief. Let me clarify with a bit of contrast. While playing Fable 2, despite the fact that the lock-on system for the guns makes it ridiculously easy, it always seemed like the main character was really interacting with a squishy baddy. Skyrim feels more like waving a weapon half drunk at a mannequin with a six inch invisible layer of solid plastic armor.

Same goes for Aela btw. Neither are any special at all, neither in looks, importance nor personality. Yet half of the Skyrim community seems to have them as companions... which, I might also add, is awkward as hell imo. Companions are RP, which I love, but in Elder Scrolls, they test my patience so badly, that I just never use them. The only companion which I honestly enjoy the company of is Barbas... unfortunately, that's a temporate relationship

I remember I entered a dungeon and Barbas wasn't there! As I wandered through the dungeon I noticed that there were all these vampire dust piles lying everywhere. I get to the end of the dungeon and lo and behold Barbas my badass dog is sitting there waiting for me. Master vampire np for fuzzy dog.

I just have so much fun playing stealth characters. Playing on expert with perks in stealth, one-handed, alchemy and illusion. In general I find alchemy by itself to be the least game breaking buff-type vs. smithing and enchanting, as you have to conserve your potions for when it really matters, it's not at all easy to just go and find specific ingredients, and the potions don't get really powerful until you hit 80 alchemy + 3 alchemy gear enchants, which by that time the game is pretty much over anyway. Even then, you still end up having to conserve potions. And restricting myself only to daggers makes the game quite challenging and fun. I end up having to use my array of illusion spells quite often for crowd control (god it's so fun messing with them) until I can start isolating them to finish 'em off with a good ol' slit o' the throat. I might use a bow only to distract and decoy the npc's. If I screw up or run out of mana too quickly, the tougher npc's can usually 2 or 3 shot me, so I gotta be careful. And of course, no shouts. Man, I think I've played this game etoo much, but I'm still having quite a bit of fun

If they were smart they wouldn't release that stuff and just slowly add more and more to each next game for monetary purposes. But holy shit if the game had the majority of those it would be INCREDIBLE. Part of me kind of wants a elder scrolls MMO, but part of me knows that I would never leave my home again if they made one.
