Congratz on the job man. I've been looking for about a month myself and had some interviews, but no luck. And yeah its all about networking especially its who you know and who you blow.
On an sc2 note I'm gonna be trying hard to get my protoss account into masters. I am only a little over 500 points so its gonna be tough, but hopefully I can grind out some games. I feel like I learned at on about pvt watching GSL last night.
Good luck to all my fellow job seekers and TLers looking for a rank up.
Thanks and Good luck right back at you !! Interviewing is totally a skill as well, it sounds lame but I did a lot or practice interviews with a bud and practiced different key points I wanted to work in over and over - good things about me I wanted to say somewhere in the interview. Also you want to have thought out answers to classic questions like whats your best strenght, biggest weakness, what you can bring them, where you see yourself in 5 years, give and example of work/suggestion/project that you did that was successful (you want as many numbers and specifics even if you kinda approx them a little cause it's not like you have the records anymore heh - you also want to quote how much they helped the company, ie in the end it saved 20% from our mailing costs or increased sales in etc etc try putting a dollar # --if you're first time and odn't have one, you prob won't get the question, and if you do you speak honestly, but then you tell them feel you're observant and while you always follow direction given you naturally always look for ways to improve and do things better) why do you want to work for them, how did/would you handle a very difficult co-worker - at least those are the ones that come of my head you can google a ton more....
ugh this is turning into a find a job blog ahaha which prob more people would read but I'm even less qualified to talk about than starcraft 2 haha.
back to sc2
Truth is that the mmr carries over, you could be promoted your first game into the new season (placement right in) if you get the mmr high enough during the lock out --- assuming you don't have the time to make it.
