Are you 10? Please don't post things like that here it's outrageously disrespectful.
Well it was honestly my first impression. Hopefully you can at least see the source of humor, and maybe other people appreciated it on a similar level :p
(Or perhaps you're not aware of the concept of an ironic juxtaposition)
Listening to any of this you will see why its called melodeath

I'm a music snob so don't be offended but Dimmu is not underrated or are they death metal. In fact, they're one of the more successful and mainstream metal bands. Btw they are considered to be black metal early on now symphonic black metal now.
Dimmy is about as black metal as Cradle of Filth, which is to say not at all. You want real "symphonic black metal" then check out Emperor. I try to refrain from talking bad about bands I don't personally care for but I just plain can't stand Dimmy and fake black metal bands of that nature.

I didn't want to take it that far, hes new to the genre. Its easier to just call them black metal (and I did say their earlier stuff pre-1997) and let him figure the rest out himself.
Anyway, I think me and you have a lot to discuss lol. I started listening to metal 7 years ago. At that time it was all the mainstream stuff, COB, kamelot, COF, and even trivium (lol). My trend or pattern of music selection has geared towards black and progressive over the past 7 years. Now I almost exclusively listen to black or progressive. Would love to hear some recommendations from you. Favorite bands/bands currently checking out: Moonsorrow, opeth, burzum, immortal, darkthrone.
Just coped Summoning's stronghold as I love the folky stuff with black metal mixed it - can't wait to check it out later tonight.

Nothing wrong with a lot of the mainstream stuff. Kamelot is pretty damn good and there's some CoB albums I still listen to. Just curious, why cut out all the power metal? There's some pretty good bands out there.
Also, not sure if anyone has heard of the faceless. I normally dislike death/tech metal passionately, but these guys hit all the right sounds. It's a lot more intense than melodic death metal, but I've come to appreciate their technicality. They're definitely much different than most tech death; I'm not even sure if they're quite within the same genre. They've grown on me a ton over time and now I love them.

I didn't mean to imply the mainstream stuff was bad (other then trivium, they're pretty bad), in fact I like all the different metal genres. One of the biggest reasons why I pride myself in being a metal fan is a monumental diversity the genre possesses.
I simply meant that as time went all, I found myself appreciating and gravitating towards the black metal/progressive styles of metal. The bands that I would check in those genres had genius quality albums. They had it all, the technical skills, the creativity, wonderful complexity in their musical composition to name a few.
Check out Moonsorrow if you haven't already, definitely my favorite band:
I still listen to kamelot actually, caught a show last October where Fabio from Rhapsody filled in for Roy (he did an amazing job.) But the majority of my attention is definitely on the black/progressive side.
As far as Cob is concerned, they're the band that started it all for me. So they'll always have a special place in my collection.
Finally hit the 3 page to see the first appearance of black dahila murder and the faceless. Smh highly recommend these guys. Black Dahila Murders. Newest album Ritual is an instant classic.
Fleshgod Apocalypse' newest album Agony is a fucking Opera literally I would post songs but I'm on my phone. Black dahila is my favourite band right. Songs to look for are "what a horrible night to have a curse" (most famous song) but off their newest album listen to Tracks 4 thru 7 guarantee you won't be disappointed
